Summary: A GREAT INTRODUCTION TO POP-UPS
Review: If I had not seen this book shown by Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America, I never would have known adult pop-up books existed. It has intrigued both my husband and me so much that we are going to start a collection of them.. I thought it was very well down and maybe the all white was done so as not to interfer with the what it was trying to say. Keep bringing out more titles!

Summary: Such a disappointment
Review: Purple mountains' majesty? How about plain white mountains? Including Mt. Rushmore with no faces printed on it.
And if all white is such a great idea, then why is the very first image, of the Golden Gate Bridge, in color? I swore the following pages were a printing error.
Very disappointing.

Summary: My son said"This is my favorite Christmas gift".
Review: Sabuda, once again, does not disappoint the child in all of us. Just breathtaking! The last page(the mini book) is so special and well done.

Summary: A National Treasure Unto Itself
Review: This book is my first exposure to the work of Robert Sabuda, and it is just short of a visual masterpiece--a splendid display of paper sculpture that completely transcends the pop-up books of my youth. For those who would buy this book for young children, I would counsel against it. To be sure, it ought to be enjoyed by children of all ages with their parents or other loved ones. Without adult guidance, however, children will neither comprehend the meaning of the verse nor appreciate the skill behind the visual presentation.

I particularly enjoyed the windmill whose blades actually rotated, as well as Mount Rushmore and the skyline of Manhattan. The booklet at the end with simpler miniature cutouts--like the Twin Towers and the Liberty Bell--was also satisfying. However, the presentation of the Mall in Washington, DC was too cramped (probably not really feasible in a book of this size), with the Washington Monument bent.

"America the Beautiful" is simply one of the most measured and tasteful displays of quiet, bold patriotism in our otherwise coarse political climate. And that is an important lesson in its own right.

Summary: America the Beautiful is a great gift!
Review: This book though in a child's form, is an inspirational book for people of all ages. It brings an apprecation of the vastness and beauty of our country in simple colors, but complex art. It reminds me of the freedom we're so proud of, that we're fighting to give others and the tiny book on the last page... lest we forget 911... we keep it all and cherish it. What a wonderful book!
