Summary: Makes history interesting. . .
Review: Last year, this book was used as the primary text for my high school World History class. Although I have found history to be immensely boring and worthless in the past, this book's method of presenting the information in a simple, straightforward manner allowed me to take a closer look at the world's past. Throughout the year, my paradigms about history changed dramatically. I began to realize that history isn't just cut-and-dried; it's livid and exciting. I also realized that most of history's lessons have practical applications in the world today. I loved the way that the book explained the far-reaching effects of certain historical periods and then went on to explain what became of certain people or ideas after they had reached their prime. Basically, this book made it fun to learn history, and that is why I recommend it. It is sure to make students think about their own histories as they discover the fascinating stories behind the world's many different people, places, and events.
