Morrell brings all of these powerful human feelings to the forefront and provides us with a breath of hope that we CAN endure such agony...his eloquent writing and deeply expressed feelings shine through like fireflies in a night sky. You don't have to be religious or spiritual to recognize what true, unconditional love is. David Morrell shows us this side of himself. Summary: A great book!
Review: I have read almost all of Morrell fiction books and I loved them. This one is different (non-fiction) about his real son who was battling against cancer in a positive way. That's the kind of character that God wants to see because of what Jesus did for us.

This is a great book for people affecting by this disease searching for positive way or needing encouragement. This book helps me in some way by learning some medical terms that I know nothing about.

First couple of chapters were confusing after knowing the author, but after chapter 4, it becomes more clear and gets interesting. You won't be disappointed.

Review: I'm a big fan of Mr. Morrell's work and have read all of his novels, and when I saw Fireflies available thru Amazon.com, I was intrigued since I never heard of the novel before. I ordered it, received it in 2 days, and all I can say is "wow". I read this in one night, and I applaud Mr. Morrell with his sincerity, frankness and honesty. Thank you !

Summary: A Different Side of David Morrell...one you didn't expect
Review: If you pick up this book by your favorite author and don't review it first.you will be in for a new type of adventure...one that is an extra-ordinary, gruelng adventure but not the type Morrell usually writes. This is the search into the depths of his mind and soul as he fights to save the life of his 15 yr. old son, Matthew who develops Ewings Sarcoma, not in his arm or leg but in a rib where it cannot be amputated. David and Matthew each undergo life threatening demands on their physical and emotional planes...one that cannot be survived by Matthew and one that renders David almost lifeless. Your thoughts on life present and life future will undergo a revolution similar to theirs...you won't be the same person who started reading this encounter with the very devil of our existence in this earthly passageway. I will not be selling this book or donating it to the library but I will tell every one to read it for an undreamed of spiritual adventure and come back to life in real time with altered outlook or belief in the Greater Power.
