Summary: wide mouthed frog makes us pucker
Review: Both my children 3 1/2 and 2 love this book. The 2 year old can't listen to it enough. The 3 1/2 year old likes picking out words she knows and telling us what they are. They both imitate the frog catching flies. At the end, they both laugh when the frog puckers his mouth. We read it with a deep voice when he's being a wide-mouthed frog and pucker our own mouths and give him a high voice when he's narrowly escaping the jaws of the alligator. We all laugh out loud! Great book.

Summary: What a great book
Review: I love books and really wanted my son (now 8 months old) to show an interest in books as well. Unfortunately every book I bought went straight in his mouth and the pages were grabbed and pulled. I tried making the stories as interesting as possible by reading with lots of feeling and expression, changing my voice for the different characters, making silly sounds etc. Nothing worked UNTIL I bought this book. WOW, he just sat there mesmerized by the pop up animals, he can't get enough of this book. The story is short and simple, so he doesn't get bored or lose his concentration. There are only 4 characters/animals so you can change your voice and make the animal sounds without it getting too confusing. The pictures are bright and the pop up characters are sturdy and interactive. A must have.

Summary: Read With Gusto
Review: I read this to my preschool class back when I was still teaching and now will be reading it to my son when he is born! I would open my mouth wide and read no matter how silly I sounded and I would pucker my lips and read the last sentence just like that. There is no book that is so cute and fun like this that I have come across yet. The children go crazy over this book and it becomes a fast fast favorite. It's fun to read over and over again and is one of the few books you don't roll your eyes at when the kids ask you to read it. VERY GOOD AND VERY ENTERTAINING for the young and old!

Review: My 2 year old loves this book as well and he can't wait for the alligators SNAP and the big splash at the end. A great story to remember and add to as well when retelling it when we don't have book with us

Review: My mother bought this book at a booksale at her school and my kids love to go visit her just so she can read this book to them. The pop-ups are divine! They just make my kids laugh everytime.

Summary: Very funny. Our favorite book!
Review: Pop-up books are a great way to get kids interested in reading. My son is 5 and will be entering Kindergarten soon and he hasn't taken to reading on his own much. When I noticed how much he enjoyed the flip tab and pop up books, I went crazy on Amazon ordering all I could find that might be of interest to him. While I have found many that are great and educational, this book has to be the funniest. It doesn't really have any educational content, but my 5-year-old asks for it almost every night. This book is only a few pages so I don't mind reading it along with another book. The first time we read it, and of course added some original character voices, we both laughed for a good two minutes. He now has it memorized and likes to do the voices for the charaters(so cute). Brief Synopsis: The frog is a very curious one and he enjoys asking other animals what they eat, after boasting, "I'm a wide mouth frog and I eat flies." After asking a bird and mouse, he runs into an alligator that seems to be interested in him. The pop ups are great and the end is a huge payoff "SPLASH"! I say it's a must have!

Summary: It's the Best book we've read!
Review: The Big Yelow House Day Care has voted "The Wide Mouth Frog" The BEST Book ever! The Children have me read this book everyday. The pop-up pictures in this book are wonderful. When I read this book to the children, I make the animals talk, The children love it! It's fun to read, making different voices for each animal. We loved this book so much, that we donated a book to our town liberary, So other children can read this GREAT book! The Big Yellow House DayCare Highly recommends this book to delight any child at any age!

Summary: Great use of pop-up art!
Review: The story is short and sweet: the idea that "there`s always something `bigger` than you are". The pop-up art enhances the storytelling rather than distracts from it. It`s a great book just for the fun of it, as well as to talk with young kids about different subjects, such as the food chain and the various eating habits of different animals. It`s a shame that the book isn`t as readily available as it was before...any publishers out there?! *wink, wink*

Summary: Great fun for the story teller too!
Review: This book has everything. It is the the type of story that captures young readers imagination. I read the story by changing my voice and the characters come alive. My young son recites the book and he too changes his voice. I am currently a full time college senior, studying elementary education, I have not came across a book I would endorse this completely, as I would this one. I have purchased it as gifts for classmates as they begin their teaching careers. This story will motivate students to read!
