Rating: Summary: Just a Super Fabulous Board Book! Review: "Blue hat, green hat, red hat, oops. Red shirt, blue shirt, yellow shirt, oops," and so it goes in this excellent little board book. This book along with "Moo, Boo, La La La!" and "A to Z" also by Sandra Boynton was one first books I gave my girls and they loved it. I can't tell you how many times I read and sang the words as I pointed at the pictures. It's kind of sad to be packing it away, but you know, there will come a time when my girls have girls of their own and out of the box it'll come. Oh what a wonderful day that will be.

Rating: Summary: A Toddler Favorite Review: A day does not pass where my husband and I do not find ourselves reading this book numerous times to our 14 month old daughter. The reason? She gets to hear us say "oops!" on nearly every page! Toddlers love predictability and will surely get a laugh out of the silly turkey who never seems to be able to wear his clothes correctly like the other animals. This short, cute, simple, and durable book has so much to offer a developing child such as word repetition (essential for emerging readers), patterns, and the chance to predict what will happen next. Parents can encourage language development by reinforcing the names of the animals, colors, articles of clothing and body parts, as well as the concepts of top and bottom. You can add a math boost by counting the animals, too. This, as well as many of Sandra Boynton's other books, is a necessity in an infant/toddler library. It will surely be read and cherished by your little one.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic book Review: I am a speech therapist and I use this book with my preschool and kindergarten students to work on colors. They absolutely love the "silly turkey" so we can talk about the mistakes the turkey makes. This is a great book.
Rating: Summary: Blue Hat, Green Hat, Red Hat, oops. Review: I really like this book. In it there are four characters; an elephant, a moose, a bear and a turkey. The elephant, moose, and bear all have no problem dressing themselves. They put their hats on their heads, pants on their legs, socks on their feet, etc. The poor turkey however can't seem to get anything right. He stands on his hat, puts his pants on his head, puts his coat on backwards, etc. The one time he does manage to get all dressed properly, he jumps into the pool! (oops)Sandra Boynton's pictures are always adorable, and this book is no exception. The pictures are also very bold and bright. The story is told like the following: "Blue Hat, Green Hat, Read Hat, oops." Under each set of words is a picture of an animal wearing (or standing in) their hat. A wonderful book. Loggie-log-log-log
Rating: Summary: What a Great Book! Review: My family and I love Sandra Boynton books but this book is really great. It helps children learn their colors and it's funny too. I love to hear my son giggle when I read Oops! A must buy for 2-3 year olds.

Rating: Summary: My Kid Loves This Book Review: My son, who will soon be 3, has read this book with me so many times that he "reads" it by himself now. When he was a year old, the "oops" at the end of every page was one of his first and favorite words. This is a wonderful book for the pre-reader, because the repetition of simple words and colors really helps kids learn. And my son really responds to the humor and silliness of the book. I think Sandra Boynton is his favorite author, we read at least one of her books every night. They're awesome!
Rating: Summary: My 2-year-old just "read" this to me! Review: My two-year-old daughter and I love this story. I read the story, she supplies the "Oops!" We both laugh at the turkey who can't seem to get his clothes on right. But I was amazed last night when she read the whole book to me, cover to cover! I know she's reading the illustrations, not the words, but it was still a delight. The words are so simple and the pictures are so clear that she finally has a book that she can read to me. And despite its simplicity, the book is still funny every time we re-read it.
Rating: Summary: Read to Your Child to Develop Bonding and Intellect! Review: Researchers constantly find that reading to children is valuable in a variety of ways, not least of which are instilling a love of reading and improved reading skills. With better parent-child bonding from reading, your child will also be more emotionally secure and able to relate better to others. Intellectual performance will expand as well. Spending time together watching television fails as a substitute. To help other parents apply this advice, as a parent of four I consulted an expert, our youngest child, and asked her to share with me her favorite books that were read to her as a young child. Blue Hat, Green Hat was one of her picks. Although ostensibly about colors, this book is subtly about much more. Clothes are put on an elephant, a bear, a moose, and a turkey. As you can imagine, putting clothes on a turkey is a challenge. So the turkey always has the clothes on in some strange way (shirt around tail feathers but not on legs, hat on the feet, pants around head and chest, socks on front feathers, coat on beak, etc.). That is a wonderful way to teach you child the word "oops" and to associate doing something unusual with fun. What a great preparation for mistakes later in life! All of the pictures are pretty silly, so you will engage your child's sense of the ridiculous. For example, the elephant, bear and moose are standing on their hands when wearing colored pants. For help with learning the colors, each sequence has the colors in a different order. That makes learning a greater challenge and more interesting. By sticking with few colors and many situations, the task of learning is made manageable for the child. Since the story is short, it also matches a child's attention span. Overcome your misconception stall that young children are not ready for humor and book learning! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Good, silly fun Review: This playful book is good fun. While kids may just enjoy the silliness, the rhymes and pictures are helping them learn their colors and names of clothes. Good for babies, toddlers and early readers.
