Rating: Summary: Before you read "flawed Dogs".... Review: Berkley Breathed manages to create a world you recognize, as well as one you want to escape to. Like all the best fiction, he manages to depict the truth of our absurdities with enough humor to make us feel safe. A completely different approach than Calvin and Hobbs, but no less successful. And yes, "flawed Dogs" really is worth buying also!
Rating: Summary: Love It Review: Excellent BIG picture books all with a wonderful message. I am as big of a fan as my kids are.
Rating: Summary: Love It Review: I love reading this book to my kids it has fantastic illustrations and is a very clever story. My 6 year old son loves it and I recommend it for children aged 5-8+. It is one of the best childrens books I have had the pleasure of reading.
Rating: Summary: 2nd Kid Review: My favorite book to read to the wee bairns. The elder is six and still loves it, the younger is near two and just getting into it. The illustrations are amazing, the story clever and good for limitless re-reads. It's never too late to depart from the text, even for old grannies.
Rating: Summary: Goodnight Opus Review: My husband purchased this book before our son was born in 2001, now 20 months later, we know it by heart and need to buy a replacement copy because we have it so worn. Berkeley Breathed is outstanding in imagination and entertainment. We have all of his books to date, absolutely love them all but Goodnight Opus is our favorite.
Rating: Summary: Get your Bunnie Jammies and enjoy the perfect Goodnight Book Review: There is something gently comforting about a well-written rhyming children's book. Margaret Wise Brown recognized that, and so did Dr. Seuss. Berkeley Breathed knows it too, and in this book he pays tribute to Ms. Brown's classic bedtime story "Goodnight Moon".But Mr. Breathed knows about more than rhyming. He is still plugged into that part of his child brain that can imagine as big as all outdoors. He remembers when a blanket stretched across a couple of chairs could be a "fort", or when the best toy that could show up in a neighborhood was the big cardboard box that somebody's new fridge came in. So Goodnight Opus combines those two elements - paying tribute to "Goodnight Moon" while not ridiculing it, but also inviting the reader to "leave the text" and let our imaginations run wild. Sometimes the simplest and most gentle lessons are the best. If you've got a little one anywhere around you, ESPECIALLY if you've read them "Goodnight Moon" two hundred and ten times do both of you a favor and read them "Goodnight Opus" next.

Rating: Summary: Gorgeous book that isn't dumbed down Review: This beautiful story book with lovely rhymes was fun for our 2 year old to start listening to and looking at, even if he didn't understand all the words or pictures. He is three now and still finds new subtleties in the pictures and understands more and more of the language, instead of just the rhythm of the poetry. I really appreciate the fact that Mr. Breathed gently nudges children toward intelligence and stretching their imagination, instead of dumbing down the text and art.
Rating: Summary: Goodnight Opus Review: This book is a great book for kids of all ages. In the book it tells kids that don't let people tell you not to follow your dreams. Because if you chase them, they might end up coming true! Like in this book..Read it to find out what his dream is.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite Bedtime Story to Read to my Children! Review: This book is my children's fav. One of my daughter's first words was "Opus" (requesting this book night after night). To be honest it's still amusing to me after reading it 210 times. This book also helps me remember that life does not have to be "by the book".Thank you Berkeley Breathed.
