Rating: Summary: my son misses his daddy Review: I bought this book as an after thought. I have a running joke with my 3 year old son that his hinney is mine and he tells me "no mom God made me and it's mine" Well my husband recently deployed and my little boy really misses him and is having some concern over is daddy coming home. I got the book to support the family joke, but got much more than I expected. I can't tell you how nice it is to have a really up lifting way to explain Gods love and mommy and daddy's love and how some day we will all be together, but in the mean time "just in case you ever wonder"...I will always be here for you ( even if daddy can't be). He asks me to read it every night. I agree with one review about the monster. He really noticed that page too. I think every child can gather strength and and a stronger sence of self from this book. I am now looking at getting them all.
Rating: Summary: A Very touching book Review: I cannot say enough about this book. I found it in the store today and had to sit on the floor and read it to my child then and there. It brought tears to my eyes. In todays world, children need to hear how special they are on a consistent basis. They also need to hear about Gods love for them. This book is the best childrens book I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: She Read it Over and Over and Over Review: I don't know exactly where this book came from, but it was sitting on my kitchen table this morning. Emma had one more book to read for her monthly reading award so we plunked down and started reading. This board book is deceptive... it is written for a child: starting as a small baby and up to a teen and yet it can also be very much for the adult reading to the small baby up to the teen. It describes how the parent loves the child and how God loves the child, asking the child to accept and know the answer to the question of whether or not they are loved "Just in Case You Ever Wonder"... and who doesn't wonder, "Does my family love me?" or "Does God love me?" or "What is there about me to love?" Lucado lays it out beautifully for the child in each of us to know and treasure. You will want to have a copy of this one around "just in case" a child wanders by who you might have the chance to sit and read for a while. You could even sit out on your front steps and wait for your neighbors to come out and offer to read to them for a spell. I read it to Emma who then read it to two-year-old Sam and then to herself again and then to Sam again and then to herself again. She started the day cranky and ended up going to school with a big smile on her face. See what I mean about this book? Read it to all the "children" of every age you can. It will be good for YOUR soul as well as theirs.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: I recieved this book at a baby shower for my second child. It was actually given to my 3 year old daughter by my grandmother who did not want her to feel left out of all of the excitement. When I finally sat down and read the book to her, I cried so hard that I had to stop several times. It is a beautiful story of the love only a parent can have for a child. I cherish this gift and so does my daughter.
Rating: Summary: IF YOU ARE A PARENT; BUY THIS BOOK FOR YOUR CHILD! Review: I took one look at this book tears welled up and knew it was a keeper; I bought it on the spot. It says what I think every parent feels about their "little angel sent from Heaven" (as my Mom always called me.) The story begins by telling the child "long, long ago God made a decision...a very important decision...one that I'm really glad He made. He made the decision to make you." The story truly expresses what we as parents all want our children to know: they are very special, unique and have our hearts wrapped around their fingers since birth and this will never change. "...As you grow and change, some things will stay the same. I'll always love you. I'll always hug you. I'll always be on your side. And I want you to know that... just in case you ever wonder." The ending is perfect; it talks about heaven. At the beginning and end, there are a few blank pages that I took advantage of and wrote some personal comments in my only daughter, Kaitlyn's copy. I know she will cherish this book forever and always know how much her Mom loves her. Isn't that what you want for your children? We are not immortal; leave something behind for your child to treasure. This book is a great way to do it.
Rating: Summary: If my child could only have one book, this would be it Review: Max Lucado brings his writing talents to a children's book! In a soothing way, this book will tell your child how special he/she is as he grows up, and how his parents and God will always love him. My favorite line is "I am on your side." How many of us think to tell our children that we are on their side and that our goal is to help them? This book is appropriate for adopted as well as biological children, and single parents whether male or female. If every child had this book read to them daily, the world would be a much better place in which to live. My daughter loves it, and I love reading it to her. In the future, it will be included in every shower/baby gift. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this book.
Rating: Summary: Better to buy this book from Amazon... Review: My daughter is a very bright. She had just turned three, and mortality (mine in particular) hit her very hard. I was talking with her about my grandmother, and she asked me where she had gone. I said, she died honey, she's with God. But I want to meet her. The res of the conversaion went "Am I going to die mommy? Are you are going to die Mommy? But I will miss you when you die mommy" followed by a sobbing 3 year old (quite the sensitive little soul.) Well, I tried to explain that God put me here to take care of her, and that I loved her and he loved her, and I'd be around as long as she needed me, and that no matter what I'd love her, but I didn't feel like my words conveyed everything that should be said. About a month later, I was at a religous book store picking up a first communion gift. I asked the woman working a the store if she had anything for my daughter. She recommended Just In Case You Ever Wonder to me. I read it in the very crowded store and started crying my eyes out (hmmm, sensitive mommy, sensitive daughter?) My only complaint is the page with the monster on it...daughter's imagination get's a little over worked by things like that, and it doesn't make for the best bed time story in our house.
