Rating: Summary: The First Book I Ever Read Review: Although my parents frequently tell me I was reading from cereal boxes and newpapers before this, the first time I vividly remember reading a book was sitting in my Aunt's lap and happily stammering through "Go Dog Go." The many colors of dogs and the way they got around intrigued me as a four year old and my (no pun intended) dog eared copy of P.D. Eastman's Suess-like rhymes stayed on my shelf for a long time after I'd grown out of this leavel of learning skill. Get it for your youngsters, it will make them happy to try and follow along.
Rating: Summary: Where IS your hat? Review: I am a "Go, Dog. Go" purist, my favorite part of the book was where one dog asked another: "do you like my hat?" I have a problem with the board-book edition...that whole exchange that took place in many parts of the book is missing, rubbed out like it is unimportant. What happened? Does PD Eastman know about this? When I made the purchase, I thought I was buying a whole book, not some edited version that cut out 3 or 4 pages of a 12 page book. The only thing I can pass on from this is percentages: 25% is missing and I am 100% disappointed.
Rating: Summary: A Favorite! Review: I love this book, it is one of those books that makes you giggle everytime you open the pages.
In this book we are introduced to dogs, all sizes, all colors and doing all sorts of different activities.
Some are going up, some are going down, some are going round and round. Some are going fast and some are going slow.
Children learn many different concepts in this read about time, color, direction and numbers. It's a fun book with great illustrations that little ones will surely enjoy as they giggle their way from beginning to end.

Rating: Summary: More dishonesty from Random House Review: Look at the cover of this Bright and Early Board Book...does it say "Abridged" or "Adapted"? NO, to discover that fact, one has to look carefully at the fine print on the inside of the cover. And even then, what Random House says is "Originally published in a different form as 'Go Dog Go'" instead of a more honest "Abridged and Adapted from 'Go Dog Go'". This is deceptive marketing at its absolute worst. If this were food for the stomach rather than food for the mind, the FDA would long ago have ordered Random House to cease and desist this sort of misleading behavior or face the consequences.I am old enough to remember the difference between a book labeled "by P.D. Eastman" and a book labeled "by P.D. Eastman (Abridged)." There was a day when publishers felt compelled to be honest about their product, which allowed us consumers to easily make an informed choice about what we wanted to buy. I for one still want that choice from publishers and urge any and all of you who care about books to not purchase this Random House Bright and Early Board Book, at least until they are a little more honest in their practices.
Rating: Summary: I highly recommend this book to all parents of preschoolers. Review: My soon-to-be two year old son Jackson has a prized collection of books, in which the pages of P.D. Eastman's Go,Dog Go! are worn, wrinkled, and stained with fruit juice. In places, they are even torn. This is a good thing. The first time we sat down together in the rocking chair to read it, at least a year ago now, Go, Dog Go! charmed child and mother alike from beginning to end. I knew then that this book, with its simplicity and original, appealing characters, would join the ranks of the constantly-read, which reside apart from the rest in his library. These select few sit next to the lamp on his nightstand; you cannot keep them on the bookshelf, so why bother to try? From the different sizes, colors, shapes and locations of the dogs, to the reappearing and increasingly complex matter of the hat, Go, Dog Go! delights Jackson each and every time. It is mandatory bedtime reading (according to him). It goes with us in the car to the sitter's house, the doctor's office, and on road trips. Like Dr. Seuss and Beatrix Potter, Eastman possesses the creative ability to stimulate, entrance, and comfort even the youngest of readers with colorful language, rhyme, and winsome animals all children can relate to. Go, Dog Go! is educational, medicinal, and functional dressed up as just plain fun, and that, perhaps, is its most worthy quality of all.
Rating: Summary: A great introduction to Dr Seuess Review: This is a great introduction to the wonderful world of Dr Seuss. It's short, it's fun and the premise is less reliant on a child's comprehension skills than many of the other Dr Seuss book. My son has loved this book since the age of 18 months, when the likes of "Cat in the Hat" were too long or confusing for him. It always makes me smile too!
Rating: Summary: Green Dogs, Red Dogs, "Do you like my hat?" - Vocabulary Review: This was one of my favorites as a child. It became a favorite of my daughter's as well. Now my son is hooked on it. The book starts simply. "Dog" is the only word on the page. That sets up the theme. We quickly are taken through comparisons and colors. Black, white, red, blue, yellow, green, in, out, up, down, big, small, stop, go, over and under. Add some simple numbers and the book gains real substance. But then we have the two plots. First is the "Do you like my hat?" story that runs to the book's conclusion. The other is dogs on the go. They run around, go to sleep, wake up, drive away fast, and finally all congregate at the top of a tree. Great Eastman illustrations and fun vocabulary will entertain most children

Rating: Summary: Abridged, but wonderful for babies Review: We have both versions of this book: the abridged board book, a favorite of my 20-month-old; and the original extended version, a favorite of my nearly 5-year-old, who can now read it all by himself. They both love it. The board book version, while abridged, is very, very well done. The words are rhythmic and catchy, and from a very early age my son and daughter have both run around the house yelling "Go, Dog, Go!" Toddlers generally lack the patience for the big version - the board book is a fantastic and accessible way to introduce them to the fun of words and language and such concepts as stop and go.
