Review: As a kid, I loved to draw, and I loved this book! The author provides simple, step-by-step pictorial guidelines easy enough for young children to follow: if they can read the instructions, they can draw the animals in the book. At each step, there is a basic instruction such as "make a green triangle" or "add two squiggly lines." The instructions are accompanied by both a drawing of whatever it is to be added and a drawing of the animal-in-progress as a whole. Not only is this book fun for children, it's great for book reports and other school projects. Even adults will appreciate the ease at which this book helps them to produce realistic-looking animals while also enjoying the author's humorous style. This favorite book of childhood has become a cherished adult possession.

Review: Ed Emberly's Drawing Book of Animals is a book that crosses age barriers. Whether you are a kindergarten student or an adult who has a phobia about drawing anything, with this book you can achieve success. I have used this book in my kindergarten classroom with great results. All my students thought they could draw anything and I found out by following the simple directions that I could too. I highly recommend this book as a gift to your young friends. Make it a complete gift with a pack of colored pens or pencils and a pad. Will keep them occupied for hours. It is good family fun for all to sit around the table and draw together. Even older kids quit feeling self conscious about their drawing and begin to enjoy creating a picture that looks like what they want it to look like. Now if you don't have any kids in mind don't let that stop you. If you know someone who does crafts, or needlework they will enjoy it too. Many ideas for decoration. Check out Ed Emberly's other titles too. Each book is based on the same principle of reducing all pictures into the basic shapes and lines we all can draw when we doodle. Summary: FABULOUS!
Review: Ed Emberlys books are wonderful. They break drawing down into the simplest parts and teach childre (and adults) how to have fun drawing. When you have fun and SUCCESS with the pictures (and you will!) you can only want to do more and the more you do the better you will get. These books are excellent... and fun. Some pictures are more simple and some books are simpler... this one is on the simpler side of mid level i would say... but it is a starter i would say... nothing very complecated. These books would be great to have in a class room... i cant say enough good about how much fun these books are!

My six year old son longed for art books that would teach him how to draw. This book more than satisfied that longing. Emberley's animals are fanciful, fun and easy to draw. I have just ordered two more of his books. We can't wait to get out the colored pencils and start drawing!

Summary: Remembering throught my children
Review: Having had this book as a child, my mother pulled it out for my children. My son has had a wonderful time creating some of the drawings, especially when we discovered some of my childhood "masterpieces" still stuck between the pages. My son is supprised that "dad" ever did such things.

Summary: The BEST drawing book
Review: I had this book when I was a kid and thank goodness my Mom saved it - I asked her to send it to my now 4 year old son who loves to draw and keeps getting frustrated that his skills are not up to par. Once he got this book, he drew pigs, bats, dragons and alligators all the first day - We were both thrilled! My copy is an original 1970 copyright, however I intend to buy this book for my son's pre-school classroom so they can all enjoy it too! Thank you Ed Emberley!!!

Summary: This is a wonderful book!
Review: I remember owning and using this book constantly when I was a kid. I recently got it for my two young ones and now they are drawing all the time! They would get so frustrated when they couldn't make something look like it was supposed to, but with this book it is easy and teaches them about using basic shapes to draw anything. It is so easy to follow, my two are both five and are doing great! Looking forward to getting some more of his books for my kids to use and enjoy.

Summary: A Champion of Creativity
Review: I too loved this book as a kid, as opposed to other art books, this is easy to follow. I was imersed in every one of his art books and my greatest accomplishment in the 2nd grade was drawing that dragon! It took hours.
