Rating: Summary: Our favorite bed time book Review: A very sweet bedtime book, this story is lavishly illustrated with pictures of mommy and baby animals. Rhymes are particularly good for bedtime, and this text is especially lovely. Even calms a grownup!
Rating: Summary: This is a special addition to anyone's bedtime ritual. Review: I am a mother of two boys ages 3 and 1. They love the rhyming and artwork found throughout the book. My three year old memorized it at age two and can read it two his brother. The illustrations are very real, and the kids practice their anaimal sounds on every page. You will want to buy a copy for everyone you know with small children. It's a great shower gift for families-to-be.
Rating: Summary: An absolutely perfect bedtime book Review: I am so very thrilled with this sweet bedtime book! Written in simple, sweet rhymes, the pages transport you and your child to a soothing, comforting place of mama animals saying goodnight to their babies, ending with a mother saying goodnight to her own child. The beautiful difference with this book, however, is that after each "goodnight", the readers have a chance to interact with each other based upon what that particular animal did, or simply exclaim that your baby is still awake or not sleepy. For example, "It's time for bed, little cat, little cat. So snuggle in tight, that's right like that." Here, a great chance to purposely get even more snuggled in together. Or how about, "It's time for bed, little calf, little calf. What happened today that made you laugh?" Here, a wonderful chance for you and your child to check in about the day. One of our favorites that always makes my little one laugh is, "It's time for bed, little snake, little snake. Good gracious me - you're still awake?!" Since fun, but comforting bedtime rituals are such an important part of a child's routine, this book is one of the best I've found to help support that special time of day when everyone is winding down and cozying in for the night. The rhythm of the words is engaging, yet soothing, and quite a joy to read. As an added bonus, the illustrations are just right. Not at all too loud or sharp; instead, muted colors but with crisp images that have a very peaceful quality about them. We started reading this to my daughter when she was just four months old and it has become an all time favorite for the whole family. You won't be disappointed in this one; everything about it exudes tranquility, peace and lots of love. Have a great time with it!
Rating: Summary: Our favorite bed time book Review: I began reading this book to my daughter when she was six weeks old. Even at that young age, she responded to the soothing cadence. She is now four months old and this book lulls her right to sleep for naps and bed time. We both love it!
Rating: Summary: Great bedtime book!! Review: I bought this book for my daughter when she was 18mths. We have read it almost every night for the past 6 months. She has the verses memorized. She loves the picture of the baby animals w/ their mothers and likes to point them out "my sheep, mommies sheep". The rhymes are easy to read and the pictures are great!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book!! Review: I received this as a baby shower book and my son LOVES it! Gorgeous illustrations and a beautiful rhythm. All I have to say is "It's time for bed little mouse, little mouse," and my son gets a huge grin on his face. I definitely recommend this book!
Rating: Summary: A Peaceful Bedtime Review: My daughter fell in love with this book the first time I read it. She insists that we read it before naptime and bedtime, and quite often first thing in the morning! She yawns by the time that we are halfway through and it has truly made bedtimes hassle free. This in combination with Goodnight Moon at bedtime ease us right into sleepy mode. Highly recommended!!
Rating: Summary: I love this book! Review: My girls and I love this book. A wonderful bedtime story about all different animals and their parent putting them to sleep. The pictures are adorable and my girls (4 and 2 )get sleepy everytime I read it to them before bedtime. Highy recommend!
Rating: Summary: well done! Review: My two year old kids love this book. They love pointing out each animal on each page. I love to hear them say some of the words with me. The story is sweet and simple and the pictures are beautiful. Well done!!
Rating: Summary: Sweet Nighttime Rhymes Review: The outstanding watercolor illustrations highlight this book - and are the reason I bought it at all. The rhyming text is sweet, but too repetitive. I find myself doing a little self-editing as I read it aloud. All the illustrations are amazing, although I would prefer the snake and the bee weren't included. I usually skip those pages. A nice way to teach your child the names of animals - especially since the illustrations all contain a "mommy" or "daddy" and a "baby" - the first words most children learn.
