Rating: Summary: Best book for boys today! Review: Hello. This book is fabulous. I have two boys and I am also a homeschool instructor. I created a lesson plan based on the Toby Digz books and now it has been thrown into our weekly studies.
The publisher of this series seems to have discovered what boys today are looking for because every child in my class adores these characters. (The girls love it too, especially due to the fact that Lauren Lane, Toby's friend is a smart homeschooled girl. Keep these coming, and tell the publisher we need activity books based on the stories.

If you are a parent looking for that new book, one that will excite your child and make them WANT to read, then this is your series! We love Toby Digz.
Rating: Summary: Egypt in Action!! Review: I love the Toby Digz books! This book was so fun it made me want to learn more about Egypt. Thanks for writing these books and please write more!!
Rating: Summary: Very Fresh and exciting, great for a young boy Review: I think this book is wonderful. If you have a pre-teen son, he is going to get into it. The book has some neat pages in the back that made my son grab a pencil and draw some letters or symbols. This looks like it is going to be a series. My 10 year old loves it. He keeps talking about it.
Rating: Summary: Best Children's Chapter book this year! Review: It's about time. My children are smart kids. I have always had a difficult time finding chapter books they would actually engage in, but this new series hit the mark, Toby Digz is a great character and I was so impressed with the format of the book. The author has gone out of his way to obviously keep the kids interested. When you reach the last pages, there are all sorts of unique charts and games. This man know his audience well! Good job Tommy Nelson! Keep them coming.
Rating: Summary: Well-written, action adventure. Review: It's all about action. In "Land of the Pharaohs," young hero Toby Digz, a skateboard riding archeologist, goes from adventure to adventure as he and his pals learn about the biblical Exodus.Teaching science, archeology, friendship and faith in a natural, Indiana Jones-like style, David Hernandez uses solid storytelling techniques to entertain while educating readers. Among the strengths of the book are the vocabulary and sentence structure. Hernandez recognizes his audience is young, but he doesn't write down to them. "Toby spun around with his flashlight to see the old coffins swinging open and crumbling mummies falling toward them." Though some of the vocabulary might be challenging, that's OK -- a dictionary of 12 words is in the back (so parents will know what's going on). I enjoyed the flip animation. Toby climbs a rope. Fun! The art reminds me of Scooby Doo cartoons. That's OK. The story will appeal to Scooby fans. It is clear that the creators of this series were aiming this way, as each character is like the Scooby foursome, and they've even got a dog which gets into mischief. One downfall regarding the art: it mixes standard illustration with Photoshop-flavored textures and other effects. The contrast isn't pleasant. In some cases, it appears as if the illustration was pasted atop the background. Another disappointing feature is that on a few pages, the text is over a dark area of the page, and it is not easy to read. The art problems are tolerable, and the writing is top-notch. Your kids will dig Toby Digz. Anthony Trendl
Rating: Summary: Finally, a QUALITY series for kids! Review: This is going to be a great series. My children really, and I mean really like this character. I have not experienced this type of response from the kids a while. They reacted to this book as if it were some wonderful animated cartoon or something in that fashion. It is obvious that the publisher has thought out this series, the second book was even better than the first. It looks like there are going to be a lot of these books and I willhappily get them all. My son wants to know where we can get the cartoon, but I don't think there is one. Finally, the author has geniusly hidden great educational lessons throughout the story. I am a 48 year old mom and I learned things about Egypt that were surprising, then I went on the internet to check and it turned out that all of the information was accurate! Kudos to Tommy Nelson! Now where can I get the cartoon?
