Summary: A BREAK WITH CHARITY
Review: THIS WAS A VERY INFORMATIVE BOOK AT THE TRIALS. IT PROVIDED A LOT OF INFORMATION ON MY 7TH GREAT GRANDMOTHER, SUSANNA NORTH MARTIN. I WAS ABLE TO LEARN A LOT ABOUT HER AND WHY SHE WAS ACCUSED. AS WELL AS WHY THE OTHERS WERE ACCUSED AS WELL. THIS BOOK IS A GREAT BOOK FOR THE YOUNG TO BEGIN WITH AND LEADS INTO OTHER BOOKS THAT MAY GIVE ACCURATE INFORMATION AS WELL. MY CHILDREN ALL READ IT AFTER I DID AND IT HELPED MY MOM UNDERSTAND AS WELL, I NOW HAVE 4 GRANDCHILDREN AND THIS WILL BE THE FIRST BOOK THAT I LET THEM READ TO GET INFORMATION WHEN THEY ARE OLD ENOUGH TO LEARN OF THE WITCHTRIALS. HOPEFULLY BETWEEN THE BOOK AND THE OTHER INFO THAT I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING IT WILL GIVE THEM A GOOD IDEA OF HOW THINGS HAPPENED AND WHY IT WILL ALSO GIVE THEM SOME HISTORY INTO THEIR 9TH GREAT GRANDMOTHER..... THANK YOU FOR THE OPPERTUNITY TO PUT MY THOUGHTS INTO WORDS AND GOOD LUCK TO ANY WHO READ THIS FOR ANY REASON.... ENJOY... KAY

Review: I think this book really potrays how life was like for the people in Salem back then. No matter how much times you read it, it just comes as a shock to you when the affliction first starts. It may be slow but to me, what she thinks really helps later on in the book. Maybe it's just me...... who knows. This book will capture your attention and heart and make you feel like you're there witnessing what Sarah English saw and what the rest of the victims saw.

Review: I first read this book when I was in 6th grade and I immediately fell in love with historical fiction. Ann Rinaldi is one of the best historical fiction writers out there, especially for young adults. I haven't re-read this book since 6th grade, but I have been meaning to.

I don't want to give anything away about the plot of the story, but it is a wonderfully well written novel about the Salem Witch Trials and all the injustices done. A great story. *S*

Summary: An Exciting Story
Review: I love this book! I had to read it for a book report for Mrs. Seagraves' class. A Break with Charity has a lot of mystery, adventure, schemes, and trickery in it. These four things evolved all around the circle of girls, who would meet in one of their houses everyday to practice magis(which was forbidded in those days). Then, once the towns people start getting suspcious of what these girls are up to, the girls pretend that they've been afflicted by people in the town that they say arer "witches"! I also love the way Ann Rinaldi tells the story! She has the main character tell the story from memory! It's a great book and I think everyone should read it!

Summary: A great read!
Review: A Break with Charity is a good book, in which the true story of the Salem witch trials is depicted. Aspects of Puritain life are introduced, as the story goes on. The main character, Susanah English, finds out the truth about what is going on in Salem Town, and at the same time she finds herself. People are dying, and soon Susanah's family is in danger. Will she tell the truth, or get caught up in the madness herself?

Summary: An enthralling story
Review: I am 13 and I think Ann Rinaldi did a wonderful job expressing the issue of the Salem, Witch trials. Young Susanna English, the main character has her own view about the trials. She is confused when all this starts. She sees that a select number of girls are in a circle lead by 12 yearold Ann Putnam. They are accusing anyone they hate of being witches. She goes to see the Parris' slave Tituba who is told to do the dark arts in secret. Since her brother William is lost at sea she goes to get her fortune told by Tituba. To find out more about this book read it! Because I have so much to tell about this book. This is a great book for people who like historic fiction.

Summary: A Break With Charity- An Excellent Read
Review: This book is only one of Ann Rinaldi's strikingly accurate historical novels. She is a compelling author whose writing is some of the best I've read (and I've read A LOT). I would definitly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a face-paced tale with historical roots.

Summary: A Must Read!
Review: I just finished reading this book and I must say I thought it was one of the best books I have ever read! Ann Rinaldi's tale of the Salem Witch Trials is delightful yet informing. She creates a great book through her setting and knowledge of what really happned in Salem in the year of 1692. I recomond this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction.

Summary: Smile Turner
Review: A Break With Charity is a historical fiction book by Ann Rinaldi and is based on the 1600's Salem Witch Trials. The main characters are Susanna English (a Puritan girl), Ann Putnam (an afflicted girl) and Joseph Putnam (someone who opposes the Salem Witch Trials). The setting of the story is in Salem, Massachusetts and is mainly about the hangings and trials of the accused witches. Some parts of the story were extremely boring because the excessive parts were basically not important. This distracted us from the main point of the story and made it boring. The story within was interesting and exciting at points though. For example, the hangings and the trials were really hard to believe; they just seem to be too interesting, exciting and unrealistic to have really happened. Even though the novel was boring and at points, it was confusing, but it was educational and taught us many facts about a dark time in America's history.
