Summary: Chest Thumper
Review: After I read this to my 15-month old for the first time, he remembered the gorilla on the cover, and that in the book the gorilla thumps his chest. Now, whenever we say "gorilla," he thumps his chest, and we recite the book text to him, which is, "I am a gorilla, and I thump my chest." Sometimes he thumps his chest w/out prompting, and we also recite the text to him. I believe the text and pictures are interesting for young toddlers, especially if read with a rhythm. However, as far as imitation goes, probably 18-month olds and older would best grasp these pictures, what the text means, and how to imitate what the animals are doing.

Summary: How to get a bunch of 3 year old up and moving!
Review: Another gem from Eric Carle -- this one is great to get a bunch of toddlers up and moving about the room. Both my 18 month old and 3 year old love it equally -- as does everyone in their preschool classes!

Summary: Great book
Review: From Head to Toe is my 2 year old grandson's favorite book. The child interacts with the reading of the book and it reinforces confidence in the child with the expression, "I Can Do It"!! The illustrations are also fabulous!! Adults enjoy this book almost as much as children. It is not a "long-winded" book, so it holds a small child's interest quite easily. GREAT BOOK!!!

Summary: Mom of a book loving 19 month old
Review: I bought this for my daughter a couple of months ago and it quickly became one of her favorites! She loves to have us read this and eagerly mimics the motions of each animal. I think it was a fun way to teach her about different parts of the body.

Summary: Not What I Thought It Would Be
Review: I was disappointed in this book. For a book that is supposed to be teaching body parts, the drawings are not very precise. Examples would be depictions of people arching their backs, thumping their chests, or wriggling their hips. Without the text you can't tell what they are doing and it seems to me that as you're reading along the pictures should clearly show what the words are saying. Maybe this book would be okay for older children, but not for a one year old. I must admit, we are not big fans of Eric Carle's style of illustration.

Summary: Another beautiful Eric Carle book
Review: It was a joy reading this to my two year old, who after a few times through, now knows the pictures so well she can recite the text all by herself. I purchased this as a stocking stuffer for Christmas, and I'm completely happy I did. We hope to expand our Eric Carle collection soon. The stories are so easy for children to grasp (at least of the ones I have seen) and the illustrations are interesting and colorful.

Summary: What an entertaining book...!
Review: My 16-month old daughter loves to turn her head, wave her arms, raise her shoulders, with the colorful animals in this book. Excellent book to teach children body parts, movements and animals. (She surprised us one day by thumping her chest when she saw a gorilla picuture somewhere else.) I also read this book to her classmates in a play group and they all loved it, too. Have fun "bending your knees" with your kids!

Summary: My kids love this book
Review: My 19 month old insists on reading this book every night and my 5 year old loves to join in to teach her brother all the moves.

Summary: my baby loves it
Review: My 2 year old knows this book and loves this book. She knows what the next page will say before I can turn the page. She loves copying the actions of the animals and my wife laughs whenever she acts like a monkey. It is a nice book for young children.
