Rating: Summary: love it! Review: My 17 mos old daughter loves this book! she brings it to us every night. It has great illustrations, cute rhyme, it's perfect for all little dinosaur's bedtime.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: The book is a really nice. The artwork is fantastic. Some of the expressions the dinosaurs have are truly funny. There are also details within the illustrations that are fun. For instance there is a drawing on the wall of one of the dinosaurs' bedroom. It is of a stick T-Rex (baring its teeth) next to a house, with a little curl of smoke coming from the chimney. I don't know why, but it just made me laugh when I saw it. I guess that is what a little dinosaur would draw, right? I also like how each picture has "hidden" in it the name of the dinosaur.I have been reading it to my 8-month old, and he really responds to the pictures. This will be great for an older child, but it works for his age as well; the colors and shapes provided are very intriguing to new eyes like his. The story is cute as well. All in all, this is a really pleasant book.
Rating: Summary: Beautifully Illustrated Review: The first thing that comes to mind when I look at this book is how beautifully illustrated it is. The images are rich, engaging and a delight to absorb. The book covers ten dinosaurs -- Allosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Apatosaurus, Corythosaurus, Dimetrodon, Pteranodon, Stegosaurus, Trachodon, Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus Rex. All of them appear so friendly that your child just might invite them for a sleepover. Moreover, they are anatomically correct, insofar as they can be for cartoon like illustrations. One of the most interactive pieces of the book is that each illustration has hidden within it the name of the dinosaur. Everytime my son and I read this book he seeks out the dinosaur's name. It's a dino I Spy game for him. He's also fascinated with the fact that he can match the dinosaurs from the inside covers (front and back) with those within the story. Of course, beautiful illustrations are important, but so is the story line. This one is done well. The illustrations show the dinosaurs engaging in all sorts of antics to avoid going to sleep. However, the point of this is to question whether or not dinosaurs show "naughty" bedtime behavior. They do not. In the end, dinosaurs "tuck in their tails" and "whisper, 'Good night!' Overally, I would highly recommend this book for dinosaur loving preschoolers! It is beautiful, interactive and well written.
Rating: Summary: Best Bedtime Book Review: Both my 20-month-old and 3.5-year-old daughters love this book. It is fun to read with fantastic illustrations, but there are other books that meet those criteria. What makes it so special is that reading this book actually makes it easier to put the kids to bed. Read "they give a big kiss" -- then give your child a kiss. When you get to "they give a big hug and give one kiss more" do the the same. Then read "Good night. Good night, little dinosaur." Then turn out the lights and exit. My kids are not easy to put to sleep, but this book seems to do the trick.
Rating: Summary: How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight? Review: Dinosaurs are used as substitutes for children in Jane Yolen's altogether whimsical How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight; a clever picture book in which human parents try to put their dinosaur children to bed. Children will be delighted by the illustrations of giant dinosaurs trying excuse after excuse to ward off the inevitable bedtime in the same manner has they themselves do. The text is breezy and fun with just the right cadence and rythm to make Jane Yolen's story an excellent read out loud. In addition the names of each type of dinosaur are included with the story, making "How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight" an excellent way to introduce children to paleontology. Great fun is to be had by all with this marvelous children's picture book. Preston McClear, Malibubooks
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Story Review: This is one of those books that I love to give as gifts. It is great for preschoolers. My 4 children have lots of laughs and can all participate with the story. It's rhyming text makes it easy for the kids to join in. I would highly recommend this book as well as their book "HOW DOES A DINASOUR GET WELL SOON?"
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This book is too cute. My two year old loves it. It has wonderful illustrations and it gives you the names of the dinosaurs. I recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Dinosaurs win at bedtime Review: This is a clever story with beautiful pre-schooler friendly illustrations. My four year old neice loves the book (and the companion stuffed tyrannosaurus). She is so enthralled with the story that she asked (no kidding) to take a nap on Saturday as we had told her the book was only for bedtime!
Rating: Summary: for parents of little dinosaurs as well as sleepy children Review: You probably know all the tricks these little dinosaurs get up to in order to avoid going to sleep if your kids are anything like mine. Children of 3+ shriek with delight at seeing both gentle and dangerous dinosaurs ROAR, bounce about, demand one more story etc. when mother and father try to put them to bed. But of course, this isn't how little dinosaurs behave at all... The rhyming couplets are irresistibly funny, and the pictures stupendous. Any child afraid of monsters will be reassured by seeing them depicted in this way. Alongside Jeanne Willis's classic, The Monster Bed, and Debi Gliori's A Lion at Bed-time, this is a perfect way to get a child to sleep. Just bew warned though - they'll want to play at being dinosaurs first.
Rating: Summary: My Little Dinosaur loves this book!! Review: Our 3 year old boy loves this book! It is has become a permanent fixture to our bedtime ritual. He "reads" the book back to me. I just purchased the T-Rex doll that goes along with this book and bought the book How Do Dinosaurs get Well? I am sure he will love them also. He was never interested in dinosaurs til we read this book, he can identify several dinosaurs now.
