Rating: Summary: Important Lesson About How Each is Created Special By God! Review: I can't recommend this book highly enough. Even as an adult I find reading it thought provoking and encouraging. Max Lucado tells a moving story, vividly illustrated by Sergio Martinez, which teaches children how God has created each and every person uniquely, with value, worth and with significance, even though society sometimes may look down on what the world perceives as differences and "imperfections". It also teaches about how, even though the world may disapprove of us, God created and loves us just the way we are. A wonderful book for instilling "God esteem" into a child. Though beneficial for all children, particularly encouraging for a child who struggles with "being different" or "not fitting in". God bless you Mr. Lucado!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic for children, encouraging for all! Review: This is by far one of my favorite books to give as a gift! I have bought hundreds of them, without exaggeration! The illustrations are picturesque and match the story line to a T. It encourages each of us to learn to value our daily time with God and to make Him the object of our concern about what others think. A tremendous lesson to learn in this book!
Rating: Summary: Sensitive to self-esteem issues in adults and children Review: This is a heartwarming story about positive self esteem issues for adults as well as children. It portrays everyone's need to be accepted just as they are without "anyone's marks", and offers insight into the result of wounds inflicted when the world says we aren't "good enough". This story offers insight into our human need to be valued for who we are, not for what we can do. This story has such a sensitive message of how much God loves each of us personally, and how He longs for us to come to Him daily for spiritual nourishment and comfort. A must read for children, parents, and grandparents!!!

Rating: Summary: A must read "reminder" for all ages Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend all ages read it if only to remind themselves that each of us is unique to our Creator. We need not follow the dictates of the herd, only the voice of the Shepherd.
Rating: Summary: For Children of All Ages! Review: This is truly a book that should be in the library of every family home. The manner in which the message is brought forth will touch everyone who reads it. I initially heard the story read as the Children's Message at a Church service on a Naval Base and was deeply moved. This book will become the "gift of choice" for our friends with children.
Rating: Summary: Every Child, Everywhere, Must Have This Book Read To Them. Review: There are few truly "must have" books for children: "The Selfish Giant", "The Happy Prince" and "The Velveteen Rabbit" are a few. And now there is "You Are Special". Max Lucado is a genius! He explains self-worth in such a simple, important way, that children will understand and internalize. No one should be without this book.
Rating: Summary: Uplifting! Encouraging! Wonderful! Review: My 23-month old son LOVES this book! "Special Book", he'll request at bed-time. The pictures hold his attention and the parable of the Maker's love sends him off to sleep feeling special. I love this book because it reminds me, too, of God's love for me.Lucado does it again with his easy-to-understand everyday illustrations of God's world.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! A wonderful message to our children. Review: What a wonderful parllel to how special God made each of us. What a lesson to our children (and to us) on how we look at other people. We are ALL special.
