She enjoys watching Emeril on TV and always wants to help in the kitchen. This beginning cook book is great. It starts with safety tips and reminds children to always ask parents permission before beginning to cook. It gives advice on how to be prepared and clean in the kitchen. It includes alot of kitchen basics such as words and pictures of common cooking cutlery, pans, bowls, etc. and advice on how to properly chop, dice and peel just to name a few. The recipes have easy to follow instructions and graphics. Not only will my daughter have fun and benefit from this book but I know that I will too!

They are easy to follow and delicious. I especially enjoy using the "Baby Bam" to kick things up a notch for my son. He's a little too young to appreciate this book yet, but he sure loves Emeril's chicken nuggets and french toast! This book really reads well -- you can just hear Emeril talking out loud as you read these recipes. Unlike some cookbooks, this one seems really thorough. I have read all of the recipes and there don't seem to be any missing steps. Everything is carefully explained so young cooks will know what they are doing. A really great book!

I have been wanting to teach my daughters how to cook and to try new things besides "McDonalds". I think this will be a great help--It has the basic rules for cooking in kid-friendly language, the recipe for the essence called "Baby Bam", which I know my girls will like a lot and the recipes are actually edible, even for my finicky daughters.

It begins with a great intro to cooking and actually has a lot of meal recipes rather than mostly snacks & desserts. Emeril doesn't make use of a lot of canned food or instant convenience junk...This is Real Food! My kids (10, 7, & 6) had a lot of fun making the spaghetti & meatball recipe, and it made alot. (Which is good as there are 7 in our family.) This is the best kids cookbook I've seen.

Review: I ordered this book for my daughter's Mother's Day gift so her children could cook and serve her on Mother's Day. Worked like a charm. They loved it and enjoyed creating something the entire family raved over. Children learn reading, comprehension, instruction, organization, math, fractions, presentation, cooking terms, shopping for recipe items, safety in the kitchen and more. A wonderful learning experience and a great Mommy's helper. Good for all ages.

I've always wondered - is it the cook or the recipe. His talent aside - this book is great. The recipies are TV like. Enjoy.

She is interested in cooking and enjoys watching Emeril on TV, so I thought she'd like it. Wow! I think it is the most-used favorite so far of all her gifts! She's already made about 4 of the recipes, with another planned for tonight(I've borrowed it since then as well). They are easy to make and delicious, and I myself prefer it to Emeril's other cookbooks because, while the dishes may not be as sophisticated, the ingredients are usually things found already at home or are easy to pick up at the store (his "adult" recipes often call for more exotic things that are not always easy to come by outside Louisiana!). It also explains things more thoroughly. It is fun to spend time with her, "assisting"; and she's having fun and learning a lot at the same time. Often, it is difficult to get my daughter to sit still long enough to read a book...well, she pored over this one diligently the first night, reading the anecdotes and cooking tips (which are excellent too)! She is becoming quite the chef, and as a family we love the dishes she cooks(especially my very picky 4 year old)! They get a kick out of using the "Baby Bam" just like Emeril! Highly recommended!
