Review: ...Yes, some of the recipees are a little more complicated than I had expected them to be, but they are very easy to follow, as well as use ordinary items that would be in any kitchen. My daughter is just thrilled with her copy, and has now used it to make several times, with no problems what so ever. We also love the fact that Emeril explains about having an adult near by, as well as any dangers that can occur in any kitchen. HE also does a excellent job at explaining the different appliances and tools that are used in cooking and baking... Great job Emeril! Here's hoping for another kids cookbook soon!!

Their payment? Tickets to his show and his name on their recipe. Blah! If he is such a fantastic cook, why was this necessary? Anyone who REALLY knows how to cook knows this guy is nothing but a showman for those who don't know any better.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: COOKIN' WITH SMALL FRY BUT EMERIL'S EGO NEEDS TO SIMMER DOWN Review: Everyone's favorite high-octave chef is now cookin' with the small fry. This delightfully illustrated and deliciously colorful volume offers recipes that kids will enjoy making and eating. And maybe even sharing. Sometimes Emeril goes a bit too heavy on recipe names --- "Tinfoil Corn Rules," "Baby Bam Burgers," "Apple-of-My-Eye Crisp" pop into mind --- but this tome is clearly a recipe for success. The recipes have been tested by the chef and his kiddy crew; they're sectioned together by category such as "It-Isn't-Rocket-Science Salads" and "If You Finish You Can Have ... Dessert!" There are chapters introducing kids (and adults) to the delights (and possible dangers) of working in the kitchen; easy to grasp icons are used throughout the book --- an electric plug indicates an appliance will be used; an oven mitt indicates things are gonna get real hot. We did gag a few times, however, at the heaping servings of Emeril ego: There is a list of his eateries, as well as website plugs for his cookware, spice blends, TV show and publisher. Those seconds we can live without.

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: An "OK" kids cookbook Review: I bought the cookbook mainly for myself ( I am Emeril fan), wanting to use it with my daughter when she wanted to be in the kitchen with me. The recipes are really just his "regular stuff", meaning he didn't change anything to make them more desirable for children except for the names of the recipes (ie: Baby Bam Burgers, Little Mean Turkey Loaf, Broccoli with Seriously Cheesy Sauce, etc.) Only the names make them more desirable to children. Real pictures of the food are not included - they are simply colorful drawings that look real nice. My 7-year-old prefers real pictures of the food so she knows what she's going to be eating - so do I. In all, I like the book for myself to add to my Emeril collection, but my daughter has other kid's cookbook's that she prefers over this one. It's an "OK" kids cookbook. It was a nice attempt at a kids cookbook (the recipes ARE good) but I would reccommend going to the library and borrowing the book before deciding to buy it.

The directions are easy to follow, and the food tastes good. The book also explains many basic cooking terms so I don't have to always answer the question, "Mom, what does this mean?"!!!! My son's made 4 recipes since we got the book 2 days ago. He's planning to make the Pokey Brownies this afternoon. He really loves the book. And I love it when some one else cooks! Thanks, Emeril.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Emeril's There's a Chef in My Soup Review: I got this book for my daughter's 3rd birthday -- she loves Emeril because he says "BAM!". But we both love this cookbook more. The recipes are simple and delicious. I have never had such success making recipes both with a child and on my own! It's great! The Yummy Wake-Up Smoothie recipe is delicious and so very healthy, we loved cutting out the Goldfish-esque Cheesey Star Snacks crackers, chowing down on Little Lauren's Mac and Cheese, lunching on the Grill it up a Notch Ham and Cheese and the twisting the Twist Yourself a Pretzels (a great pre-school project).
