Summary: Because of Winn-dixie
Review: This book sounds like a true story because the view point is through a child's eyes, someone young and someone who has kind of a "bubbly" attitude. Even though she is not an adult, Opal knows not to judge people or to take things for granted and she is proud of herself and her dog Winn-dixie, which helps her along through the story. Actually, Winn-dixie is the one that teaches her lessons and communicates with her even though they cannot talk with each other. They turn out to have some pretty fun adventures together and learn stuff too!

Summary: In love with India Opal
Review: This book called to me while I was working at our school book fair. I wasn't going to buy another book, but then I opened the cover and began to read. I'm reading it to my son, who could read it to himself --but I have to read it with him. We are sharing special moments with ten-year-old India Opal, her engaging dog, and the outcast characters of Opal's life.

The language of this book induces a melodic sound track in my head as the story carries me and my son know the main character and laugh with her and understand that life is a mixture of sweetness and pain. This book uses metaphor in such a beautiful way that I believe it compels the reader to see new truths.
All the while, the book interjects fun.

I highly recommend "Because of Win-Dixie" to children and their parents to share in the sweetness of life, have fun, and to stimulate conversation on important issues of growing up and being human.

Summary: Reading It Twice
Review: What an excellent book! I will have to admit that I would never have selected this particular novel from a bookstore shelf. Since I am not a great fan of pets, reading a book about a young girl and her dog Winn-Dixie would not have been a top priority for me. However, I was required to read it for a college class and fell in love.

Opal is the kind of character with which a reader can relate. My heart went out to her as I read about her mother leaving, moving to a new town, having difficulty making friends, etc. However, she never gave up, and I, as the reader, never gave up on her.

This is a book that will tug on the heart strings. If you have not read it, get a copy today. If you have, read it again to someone else. I'm currently reading it to my students!

Summary: Because Of Winn- Dixie
Review: Because Of Winn- Dixie is about a girl named India Opal. She recently moved to a trailer park with her dad for adults only. She was what they called an exceptional child becuase she was very quite. She also had no friends. One night her father sent her to the store to get a few things from the grocery store when a stray dog comes running through the little Winn-Dixie store knocking over the manager. He gets really mad and wants to know who he dog belonged to. india Opal quickly, without thinking claimed the dog and named him Winn-Dixie. She took him out of the store and he looked up at her and smiled. She had made her first real friend since she moved. But woud her dad let her keep him?
I thought this book was a very good one because it showed you that you can always make new friends. She also has to deal with a lot of responsibility when taking care of Winn-Dixie. I found out about this book when a teacher came into my 6th grade class and told us about the book. I thought it sounded interesting so I decided to go to my school library and check it out. I liked this book a lot, and i usually dont like to read so i think almost anyboy would like this book.

Summary: An Interesting Story
Review: I think "Because of Winn Dixie" was a great book because there was alot of exciting characters and Winn Dixiewas very funny. Opal also named gets a new dog and named it Winn Dixie because she found it in the store called the Winn Dixie store so she named him Winn Dixie. The book shows tgat some people may want to be your friend even thoughthey are a bit mean. Steve Dunlap and pinched face Amanda are all mean i n the beging of the storybut turn out nice at the end. It also shows that you should never judge people by rumors going around. For example "Dunlap and steve said that Gloria Dump was a witch but really wasn't." You should definitally read this book you won't be able to put the book down. I hop[e that you like the book as much as I did.I would also recomend this book to a friend of yours.
