Summary: I like the lay out of the book. Its easy to read.
Review: Out of the first three concoctions i tryed only one worked. I tryed the gooy gunk, funnt putty and the scratch and sniff paint. Only the smelly paint turned out. I and my daughter are very disappointed. We tryed the funny putty several times and it was just a mess. Maybe the liqiud starch was the wrong kind.

Summary: Fun stuff for moms to share with their children.
Review: Real moms or dads...will love it. It's full of inexpensiveideas to make at home for birthday parties or rainy days. Parents andkids alike will love the book. Parents, because the ideas are inexpensive, and kids, because the ideas are fun and silly. You won't regret buying this book if you care enough to spend time with your children.

Summary: Great Buy
Review: Recommended buy for all parents . When the kids are bored and we want to get out of the house or away from the lure of the dreaded TV/Video this is just the tonic . We ( parents ) probably get more fun than the kids

Summary: Kid's Will Have a Blast!
Review: Since I bought this book my kids have not been able to put it down. I love the easy to follow instructions and the simple layout. My kids fell in love with Gooey Gunk and Funny Putty. They have made the Funny Putty project so many times that they now have the recipe memorized! As a 3rd grade teacher I use the book in class all the time. Last week I made over 30 batches of Funny Putty with great success. In fact, the kid are still talking about it.

Summary: fun in the making of it and then in playing with it
Review: This book contains 65 recipes for making things at home that can then be played with. I began using the recipes in this book when my son was three years old. Both children love the idea of picking something out of the book to do; it becomes an activity in itself looking over the pages while I talk about the recipes. The fun is first in making the thing and secondarily actually using it. I recommend that first the adult browse the book and stock up on some items from the craft store that you will need for the projects that you think you may do, for example, buying large quantities of salt, powered tempera paint, cornstarch, borax, and liquid starch. In the end you will end up with a product that costs less than the store bought version as well as having fun making the product. These projects are great for those rainy or hot days or when I want to engage the kids in something other than watching TV or me reading aloud to them.

Some of these things are homemade versions of commercial products. Examples are sidewalk chalk, sidewalk paint, a goo like Silly Putty ™ and another goopier goo that is like the store-bought slime. Homemade finger-paints of all different concoctions from pudding to soap based to gelatin based, and other paint type projects are included. There are many clays, from a simple dough to sand dough, to dough's made from edible products. There is even a recipe for school glue!

Some of the projects are more finished-product oriented such as a squishy-stress squeezing ball, grass head guy, crystal rock garden, a (musical instrument) rain stick, and a tornado in a bottle.

Young children will need the adult to do most of the reading, instruction following and major parts of the constructing process. I think this is balanced out with having young children (toddlers and preschool aged) help with stirring and measuring and then the fact that they are the ones playing with it in the end, is a good balance of work between the adult and the child.

I can't recommend this book highly enough for all parents and grandparents.

Summary: Great Idea's and lot's of fun.
Review: This book has so many things we want to do that we cant decide what to do first.Alot of the ingredients are things we alreay have in the house. The only diappointment is that it has so many finger paint and clay recipes. They couldve taken some of those out and list other things instead.

Summary: It's The Best !!
Review: This book is truly one of the best arts & craft books I have ever seen. The projects are new, fresh and original. Most of the projects I have tried seem to be "fool proof". Thats saying alot for a craft book. Congrats to the authors!

Summary: Bad!
Review: This book is very poor. Firstly, it is not illustrated in a way that you would see what the final product is supposed to look like. Second, it makes a mess. Third, it says that you have all the stuff at home but alot I couldnt find at the market!

Summary: science diva
Review: This book was strictly marginal.. I am very disappointed. The activities were neither challenging nor were they very exciting. Hope the others that I purchased are better!

Summary: WOW!
Review: This is by far THE BEST craft book I own. The projects are fun and easy. There are things like making your own fun-shaped crayons by using candy molds (I have tons of them!) You can make your own chalk and bubbles. I was in a store the other day and saw 3 different things that the book shows how to make (for practically nothing)for sale...and they weren't cheap. Most of the stuff is made with similar things so even if you don't already own what is needed, if you buy an ingredient, it won't go to waste. This book is going to keep my kids busy all summer. Within a day or two, I should receive the second book to this. Hopefully it will be as good as the first.
