Rating: Summary: Fun and interesting Review: I bought this for my 7 year old sister...she loves it! She is learning about science without even knowing it and loves making the different concoctions!
Rating: Summary: ZERO STARS! WHAT A MESS! Review: I can't believe I have the same book the other reviewers here have! Of the five projects we've tried, none of them worked. The fruit leather, which might be in book 2, is a complete catastrophe and ruined an expensive plate. The bathtub finger paints were 1. a hideous mess and 2. no fun because they were just too runny. The sponge ball has lousy directions and wouldn't stay together. As for the silly putty, it was nearly impossible to find liquid starch and once we did the stuff was so runny you wcouldn't do anything with it! When I wrote to the authors at the email address provided, they never answered (though since it was AOL to AOL I know they got the email). So disappointing.
Rating: Summary: Awesome ideas - you'll want to try them all! Review: I collect many kid's activity books, but this is my all time favorite! Every recipe in here is a blast and great for amazing kids and adults alike... The ingredients are very easy to procure and the end results are great! Our favorites are Fruity Lip Gloss, Scratch 'n Sniff Watercolors, Jewel & Gem Goop and Kookie Creepies (make your own rubber critters!).
Rating: Summary: Cheap? No way! Review: I got the Ultimate Book of Kids Concoctions for an early Christmas present. Before getting the book I watched an TV show about the book and it said that you could make these crafts for pennies. After looking at all of the recipes, that is not true! Many things I had around the kitchen but are not cheap!! Overall this is a wonderful craft book for kids except for the prices.
Rating: Summary: Easy to do projects with household items. Review: I have looked at several of the craft books for children and this one has many ideas with easy to read instructions. Many of the items you make in the book duplicate costly items you would buy in the toy store.
Rating: Summary: Cheaper Than PBS Review: I just saw this Kid Concoctions book on PBS for a $150 donation. Thanks Amazon for saving me a ton of money! Great arts, craft & science project for kids of all ages.
Rating: Summary: The Best Craft Book Ever! Review: I love it! My Kid Kids Love it!! And Grandma loves it even more than the kids!!! This is one not to be missed.
Rating: Summary: Inexpensive Fun! Review: I love this book! I have made many wonderful toys with my children for pennies using stuff from around the house. What a great book!!
Rating: Summary: A Treasure Chest of Fresh New Innovative Ideas Review: I never dreamed kids' crafts could be so much fun. The Ultimate Book of Kid Concoctions is by far a cut above any other childrens'craft book I have ever seen. In fact, it is almost ashame to called it just a craft book. The ideas are fresh new and innovative. Not only do children have fun they actually learn as they create.Hats off to the authors of this wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: Just my thoughts Review: I purchased this book based on some of the reviews. It wasn't what I expected. Some of the products are unsafe for young children of 4 and 5. Depending on the maturity of the child. For example The magic bubble paint. This project requires liquid detergent. I hate to see this accidently get into a childs eye. They use the liquid detergent in the bathtub paint project. I rather stick to non tonxic finger paints that won't as sting. Dish detergent some tends to be harder to wash out. The other project I found unsafe was the foamy paint project which requires shaving cream. My husband can bearly stand the stuff. Accidents happen kids tend to scratch an itch without thinking of wiping there hands. The ideas are fun but I woulndn't walk away from specific ones. There are plenty of projects that we liked out of this book too. The sparkle water bottle, scratch and snif water colors and others. They have a project called magic muck, it is really oobleck. This book has no scientific notations for kids such as why oobleck happens. If you have a kid you has many why questions Isuggest you find another book. O also found that many of these project are available on internet sites.
