Rating: Summary: Every Child's Favorite! Review: This was absolutely my favorite book as a child and just hearing the title brings back such fond memories. "Harold and the Purple Crayon" allows children of all ages to experience anew the freedom, excitement and escape of an unencumbered, childlike imagination which is so easily lost in today's world. Its simplicity is entertaining and refreshing. Read it for yourself and become a child again. Share it with your children and their children, and watch them enjoy the gift of a temporary, but welcomed, escape from reality.
Rating: Summary: An excellent book for all ages! Review: I ordered this book from my daughter's class, but for myself. When it arrived, I read it aloud to my children, my husband, and my in-laws! It is a sweet, simple, wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: This was my favorite book when I was a child Review: This is one of the first books I read when I was a child, and my favorite. I buy this book for every baby that is born in my family, to me it represents the freedom and imagination that exists in every child.
Rating: Summary: A classic for children from 2-6 Review: Our family loves Harold and the Purple Crayon as well as all the books in the Harold series. Harold is the original Charlie Brown with his cute round head. With his crayon, he can meet any challenge, climb any mountain, do battle with any witch. Kids see Harold as quite the adventurer as he draws himself to faraway places but they also see the trouble he can draw himself. into as well. But in the end, Harold usually draws himself home, safe and snuggled under the covers. The book has a wonderful rhythm to it that appeals to kids. It is a book that is both calming and empowering to kids, it allows them to dream and imagine. A classic that deserves more notice.
Rating: Summary: This book is great ! Review: I am an 18 yr. old who has been a fan of this book ever since I was small. In fact, just last year I bought the book and it will accompany me during my first year of college. My imagination is big and so I think that is why I love this book. I read it to my small cousins all the time. GREAT book :O)
Rating: Summary: Viva Harold! Review: I recall as a child loving the Harold stories. The supposed simplicity of the illustrations was actually part of their mystique:you imagined what else Harold might draw in time...to this day I can't look at a blank sheet of paper without wanting to draw on it with a purple crayon.
Rating: Summary: Say No More! Review: All I can say is when I was a kid and attending elementary school, it was next to impossible to be able to check out this book from the school library because every kid wanted it. All I ever wanted was a purple crayon for myself. Fantastic book!
Rating: Summary: Harold and his crayon take a great trip! Review: My son fell in love with this book. It showed him that all he needs is his imagination to have an adventure, not lots of money. At the age of five, this is favorite!
Rating: Summary: When I was a child.... Review: ...I was a child of divorce- military divorce. My Grandparents, with whom we went to live, taught me to read. I began Kindergarten in 1957, and this book was on the shelf. I was stunned. I renewed it from our class library for the entire year. I lay in bed every night, holding that fat Crayola, waiting to climb out for an adventure. Forty years later, I think I've reached my goal. I never had children, but my step-children are getting to that age now, I want to have that book to share with their babies, and bring back the magic!
Rating: Summary: My brother and I share great memories of this little book. Review: I recently ran into the paperback version of this book and sent a copy to my brother - Harold - to read to his kids. I remembered reading it when we were kids. When he received it in the mail, he called to thank me and shared something very special. Harold is dyslexic and recalls that this book was one of the few he could read and relate to as a child. He is an electrical contractor and to this day, he ONLY uses a purple crayon on his jobs to mark electrical outlets and boxes. So - if your ever in Boulder,Co. and you happen to see a big blonde guy on a construction sight drawing outlets in purple - Well - that's Harold and his purple crayon.
