Rating: Summary: Adorable! A favorite in our house. Review: This is a great book, and the rhyming story is fun to read. The pictures are drawn beautifully. My 15 month old loves this book, and will ask to hear it again and again.
Rating: Summary: As a reading teacher.. Review: As a reading teacher I have to say that this is a wonderful book for teaching phonemic awareness, a really important skill for reading. It has terrific word play and the illustrations support the text perfectly. Nice job, Mr. Degan!
Rating: Summary: Too off the wall for me Review: I read of all of the reviews and it sounded good. However, after...reading it, I realized that it was a little too fanciful for me. I don't mind a made up word or two but we're trying to teach our kids words and there are too many fanciful things "shoeberry, moonberry, cloudberry, trainberry, zoomberry raspberry rabbits, etc." Yes... I'll admit that there are some Dr. Seuss books that I don't like for the same reason. It started out cute and the illustrations are warm and friendly but as a teaching tool it rates really low with me. I'll be returning it.
Rating: Summary: FUN to read Review: Read this book loud and with a lot of rhythm. It is a blast! I find myself saying "what a Jam Jamboree!" all the time!
Rating: Summary: Razzamatazzberry!! Review: Of the countless board books that we received when our son was born, none has pleased him (or us!) more than "Jamberry!" My four and a half month old giggles and squeals with delight each and every time we read it to him (which is quite often!) The rhyming is fun and whimsical (silliness at its best) and has a terrific sing-song quality to it ("Quickberry/Quackberry/Pick me a blackberry!") I had never heard of this book prior to my son's birth, but now I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun way to introduce books and reading to their kids.
Rating: Summary: Jamberry Review: "Jamberry," by Bruce Degen is a wonderfully illustrated book that takes children on a magical trip through Berryland. The rhyming words are fun to read and children love to hear this story over and over again. There are so many fun activities that go along with this book too! It is a "must have book" for any pre-school program!
Rating: Summary: Lovely rhyming verse and great illustrations Review: My 13 month old loves this book - he will happily listen while I read it over and over. The illustrations are beautiful, tasteful and full of suprises which older children can enjoy, like trees with bread growing on them and a skating rink of jam. The text is a bit non-sensical but very imaginative (...). It's dense with rhyme, so it sounds lovely when read aloud and my kids want to listen even if they can't understand the words.
Rating: Summary: All around favorite Review: From my own 6 month old to my kindergarten students, every child I know loves this book! The silly rhymes and wonderful illustrations capture and keep attention. The little letter from the author at the end makes a wonderful springboard for a classroom discussion about favorite family activities.
Rating: Summary: I consider this one a MUST HAVE Review: When I taught, I enjoyed books like this that had a catchy rythm and a lot of take off points for teaching. This book is wonderful. We would make bread and eat toast and jam, we'd jump rope to the book rhymes, we'd find rhyming words and more. Now that I'm a mom- this book is still a favorite of mine. Now, my son and I do fun things- the other day, he helped me make jam after we read this book. This book is a must have in my opinion. The rythm is catchy and fun. The illustrations are adorable. Children like this book. I've never known a child to not like this book. Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: The MOST imaginative book ever written for infants! Review: Come along and sing the song of "Jamberry" in "Jamberryland." A little boy befriends a dancing bear that is picking scores of berries in Berryland. The illustrations in this book are OUTSTANDING, sweet, and silly, beset with wit and surprises such as fruit tart flowers, butter-cookie lily pads, and bread vines to name a few. Visually stunning, as well as wonderfully rhythmic too, "Quickberry! Quackberry! Pick me a blackberry! Trainberry, Trackberry Clickerty-clackberry!" Terrific use of alliteration. This dynamic little board book will captivate your children, and don't be surprised if it charms you too. Indeed, "Jamberry" is one of the MOST imaginative books ever written for infants and young children! Birth and up.
