Rating: Summary: Union Propaganda Review: OK, the book is cute, but the reason that it has received such acclaim and honor is because it celebrates and encourages Union activity. Certainly the media would not have fallen in love with this book if farmer brown turned the ungrateful, inefficient and pampered cows into hamburger and drumsticks and replaced them with more appreciative, hard working, and efficient cows and chickens. Or would it have received the same media and literary praise if it showed that farmer brown had to move his farm to Mexico or lay off farm hands because the increased electrical costs caused by the cows and chickens made his farm uncompetitive?
Rating: Summary: A Picture Book Charmer - and Funny, Too! Review: What makes a picture book stand out from the crowd? An unsual story, crisp, vivid writing, outstanding illustrations that really fit the story, and a (preferably humorous) twist at the end. Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type has all these elements in perfect combination. It's that rare book parents will enjoy as much as children and won't mind reading over and over again. I highly recommend this one - even if you're not a kid.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: We were first introduced to this book on the PBS show Between the Lions. My 3 & 5 year old instantly fell in love with the book. They thought the animals going on strike was hilarious. They especially loved the ending with the ducks. Whenever my children ask me to read it again as soon as I've finished reading, it's a hit! This book is also good for my 5 year old as he is learning to read. Wonderful illustrations and repeative wording.
Rating: Summary: OUTRAGED Review: I thought this would be a wonderful book to read to my children. I can't believe how wrong I was. First of all, Ms. Cronin seems to take her readers for fools, thinking that we'll just nod and look away as she spoon-feeds us... TALKING COWS. I kid you not. And these aren't just any talking cows. They have typing skills and even stage a strike. You can't even be gullible to buy this, you've got to be downright stupid, and even that's a stretch. I would most definitely not recommend this book to any parent, unless for some reason you want your children to grow up believing in talking cows and cow strikes that result in milk shortages and whatnot. Utterly terrible -- pun intended.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This is the best book. I read it and I loved it. I work in a library so I checked it out to take to the daycare where I also work. I read it to my students and they loved it. They had me read it several times and the third time they knew to say click clack moo, click clack moo, clickity clack moo. It was also passed around the daycare and all the kids liked it.
Rating: Summary: A must have... Review: This is such a clever book with a twist on regular children's stories. Parents will enjoy reading it just as much as their children enjoy listening. It is very, very funny and I recommend it to everyone.
Rating: Summary: My three year old loves this book! Review: My three year old loves this book. She wanted to hear it every night for a good three weeks. It's funny and the illustrations are great...and she likes really likes the refrain, "click clack moo click clack moo!" Great book!
Rating: Summary: Cows that type!?!? Funny funny story. Review: This is a great book. The plot is funny enough for adults but silly enough for kids. My 3 year old loves it. I love the shadow of the expression of the farmer when he gets mad. I have told many people that I work with about this. It is truely a classic. Kids understand how silly it is for a cow to type but they love it. Excellent twist at the end.
Rating: Summary: On Strike! Review: Betsy Lewin's bold ink-and-watercolour illustrations are the perfect counterpoint to this simple, elegant story about a herd of cows who go on "strike".A surprise twist at the end makes this book a delight even for adults and kids will clamour for this story again and again. Click Clack Moo is definitely one that lives up to the hype. Recommended for ages 4-7.
Rating: Summary: Click Clack Moo, Cows That Type Review: My 3 and 5 yr. old kids love that book and I find it funny too, so it makes it easier for me to read over and over and over again!
