Summary: excellent read
Review: A hilarious book! I have used this at many storytimes with all ages from preschool to elementary, and it always gets a great reaction. The thought of cows typing and wanting electric blankets cracks kids up. And it cracked up all the adults too!!

Summary: what a hoot!
Review: i heard this book being read on npr and had to buy it. The story is funny and simple. and, of course, the kids really like the "click, clack, moo" part - which is repeated just enough for the kids to enjoy it but not so much that it drives the parents crazy! i once heard that the best books to buy for your children are ones that you like, too, and this one definately qualifies.

Summary: Terrific!
Review: Farmer Brown is amazed when he realizes his cows have found an old typewriter and are using it. All day long he hears, Click Clack Moo, Click Clack Moo. Then, one day the cows leave a note tacked to the barn door demanding electric blankets...it's cold at night in the barn. Farmer Brown says, NO! The next day, the cows go on strike...NO MILK until we get the blankets. Pretty soon the typing begins again and this time the note tacked to the barn door asks for more electric blankets...the hens are cold too. When Farmer Brown ignores their demands, they go on strike with the cows. NO MILK, NO EGGS. Farmer Brown is beginning to panic. How can he run a farm with the cows and chickens on strike? So he gets out his trusty typewriter and writes a note, telling the cows and hens that he'll give them the blankets, if they turn over their typewriter. The note is delivered by a neutral party, the duck. An agreement is reached and Farmer Brown waits for the duck to bring him the cow's typewriter. Instead he begins to hear, Click Clack Quack, Click Clack Quack! Betsy Cronin has written a very funny, witty story that will amuse and delight your whole family. Her simple, silly story line is complimented perfectly, by Betsy Lewin's charming, expressive illustrations and youngsters will be laughing out loud at the antics of these farm animals. This is a great, imaginative book for kids aged 4-7 and a wonderful addition to all home libraries.

Summary: Decodability Level 5
Review: Use Doreen Cronin's clicking cows to DECODEnglish!

If your learner has progressed to Level 5's explicit pronunciation, spelling, and reading skills, these other characters will also provide excellent practice...

The Giving Tree (Shel Silverstein); The Very Clumsy Click Beetle (Eric Carle); Henry Hikes to Fitchburg (D. B. Johnson); Fox in Sox (Dr. Seuss); Where the Wild Things Are (Maurice Sendak); But I Waaannt It (Dr. Laura Schlessinger).

Summary: I laugh every time I read this one!
Review: This book has everything: great illustrations, humor on all levels, lessons and morals that can be approached simply (as the animals in the book demonstrate) or related to everyday situations (workers striking, negotiation, etc.). I read this with both my four-year-old and seven-year-old and we all love it.

Summary: Bravo Doreen on your first book!
Review: The title lured me in when I was looking for a new read for my children, 7 and 4. I delighted in the concept of this book as much as my two children did. I congratulate Doreen on her first book and as aspiring children's writer I wait in anticipation for your next piece. My children give you ten stars!

Summary: The kids love it.
Review: Few books have captured the imagination of my kids (5 and 3 1/2) like this one. They made me read it twice the first time I brought it out, and the next day they cajoled me into dusting off my old typewriter so they could act it out (I'm always Farmer Brown). It has some language that will challenge them (the hens go "on strike," Farmer Brown delivers an "ultimatum," and the cows hold an "emergency meeting") but my kids seemed to enjoy that all the more. Highly recommended.

Summary: Inspired bovine silliness for preschoolers and parents
Review: The utter absurdity of the premise - cows that type? - led me to flip through this book, and then to purchase it. My 2 1/2 year old loves it, and appreciates the whimsy and incongruity of the plot: Farmer Brown's cows find a typewriter and type out a demand letter for electric blankets, leading to a comical negotiation to end a milk strike. The illustrations are charming and funny (I especially love the expressions on the cows' faces as they wait for Farmer Brown to respond to their notes), and the droll text is just simple enough, with just enough repetition, to keep the younger set hooked. As a lawyer, I got a kick out of the "dispute resolution" - sadly, many of my colleagues don't negotiate half as well as the bovines in this book.

Summary: delightful across many age groups
Review: When I took this out of the box, I knew I would read it to the staff. Then I used it at a Storytelling Festival with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Everyone loves it. It is perfect for Story Time with the repetitive text. The pictures are wonderful. When I read it for Story Time today, I found my assistant peeking over the shelves. "I love to hear you read that', she said.

Summary: MOO
Review: I am an education major taking a reading class, which is why I bought this book. I read it to a class of college students who loved it. It is so amusing and can be used on so many levels and was so much fun! The duck is wonderful in this book, he was why I bought it. The illustrations are delightful and well done. This is a great first book for this author, hopefully she will continue.
