Summary: When's the next one coming out?
Review: Hello everyone, i am a book fanatic. I read the first book in the red king series, Midnight for Charlie Bone, in June 2003. And even though 3 months isn't as long a time as i will be waiting for the next abarat book and the next unicorn chronicles, it was hard to wait. As soon i heard it was out i went to the store and bought it. It took me a few more days to read this one than the first, but i blame that on lack of time. It is great, thanks Jenny.i finished this on sept. 2nd, but i have been so busy with school i just wrote the review now.
There is a lot more dealing with Gabriel, Tancred, and Lysander (who you have to love). As well as Benjamin, Paton,Charlie, Olivia, Emma, and Fidelio. They are great characters.
THis book is number 1. you have to read it. I can't wait for Charlie bone adn the invisible boy to come out.
Thanks, Jenny! Can't wait for charlie's new adventure!
It's GREEEEAAAAT!!!!!

Summary: An intresting story
Review: I don't have much to say, but if you read this book, then read the first one in the series first or else it won't make any sense. It is an intresting book, almost a Harry Potter take-off though. But read it if you wan't a brake from the real world for a while.

I bid you Adeu.

Summary: A Great Find!
Review: If you are a fan of the "Harry Potter" series, you will probably enjoy this series. This story is exciting and hard to put down once you start. Now, book one may have a slow beginning, but persevere the ending is highly charged with energy and flows into book two.

Summary: Charlie Bone and the Time Twister
Review: In this book, Charlie Bone and the time twister, a kid named Henry Yewbean is sent hurtling through time in 1916 and lands somewhere in the future where almost all of his relatives are dead. In the future, Henry meets a boy called Charlie Bone. Charlie finds Henry first and after realizing that Henry was in grave danger because his evil cousin is still alive, Charlie sets out to hide Henry until he and his friends can send him back. This book takes place mostly in a school for kids who excel called Bloor's Academy.

My favorite part in this book is when Henry wanders away from safety and gets captured by his old cousin's workers. Charlie and his friend, feidlo, have to go on a secret rescue mission to try and save Henry from his uncle's wrath. When Charlie gets to the place where Henry is, he finds a large rock in front of the entrance. When he and his friend can't move it, Charlie uses a wand he stole from a magician. The wand works and Henry once again is free.

I liked this book for many reasons. First of all, I loved the first book in the series, Midnight for Charlie Bone. Midnight for Charlie Bone was a great book. I loved the plot and it was written very well. Once I got into this book, I found out that this book was just as good, if not better, that the first book. I loved the suspense and the way the climax was set up. Near the end of the book, Henry is about to try and use the time twister with a exiled lady. You would think that that would be the end of the book but at the last moment, Henry pulls out and the story continues.

In this book the part that confused me the most was that in the beginning of the story, Henry accidentally uses the time twister to bring him into the future. Later in the book, when Henry first comes to the future he tries to use the time twister again. Since he left the past during one of the coldest days in history, Henry tries to get in a freezer and travel backwards in time. This doesn't work and instead Henry gets trapped in the freezer and barely survives. When he is rescued he is informed that the time twister doesn't take you to the past. It takes you only to the future. Near the end of the book though, an old lady uses the time twister to travel backwards in time so she could escape a catastrophe that happened to her hand.

I think that this book is mostly about courage and determination. I also think that this book has great quality writing in it and that everyone should read it.

Summary: A wonderful sequel!
Review: Nimmo is really picking up speed with this second book. She has fleshed out the past of the lineage fromt he Red King. Characters are becoming more developed and the Aunts are becoming even more evil. Unlike the first book which WAS good. This takes off from the start line follows and twisted and winding path and comes to a logical conclusion. I sat logical conclusion in response to the Library School Journal review that said that the ending was a let down. My response is where else would you put an eleven year old boy from 1916, he can't go back to the academy and they can't send him back in time.

All in all a wonderful, exciting, thoughtful tale that has plenty going on to keep you interested.

Summary: SPECTRUM Children's Book Club Recommendation
Review: Reading Level: Ages 9-12

In this second Charlie Bone story, Jenny Nimmo seems to be hitting her stride. With the character introductions out of the way, and the major underlying plot line established, She is free to hurtle us into the past in order to come to the present, when a relative, who could be Charlie's doppelganger, is whisked by a glowing marble from Bloor's academy to the Bloor's Charlie now attends.

Amidst the underlying struggle of good and evil that permeates both the academy and Charlie's Yewbeam family history, Charlie must discover the truth about the boy from the past to secure the boy's future. This book was more enjoyable than the first.

Summary: Charlie Bone and the Time Twister
Review: The book Charlie Bone and the Time Twister is the sequel to Midnight for Charlie Bone in a series called the Children of the Red King. This book is about Charlie Bone's long lost great-great uncle Henry Yewbeam who was twisted through time by his evil cousin Eziecial Bloor. He was twisted almost 80 years into the future back to the great hallway of Bloors Academy where he runs into Charlie Bone, a boy who can hear pictures and go into paintings. When Charlie first sees Henry he thinks he is looking into a mirror because Henry looks just like him. To keep him safe he hides him in the music tower so that no one will find him and take him away. Eventually Henry ends up in the kitchens with Cook, a friendly old fat lady who will keep Henry safe at all costs. One night Henry sneaks out and is caught and put in the dungeons outside of the ruins of the old castle so Charlie has to go into the painting of an old crazy sorceror whos wand he has to steal in order to move the boulder on top of the dungeon to free Henry. I really liked this book beause of all of the excitement and adventure in a modern setting and the slight hint of mystery.
