ABC Block Books: 26 Board Books in a Box!

Summary: An excellent toy and a friendly introduction to the alphabet
Review: When my daughter received this box of books as a first birthday present, I was skeptical: surely ABC books were some distance in the future? But she has played with it nearly every day for eight months. Small hands have no trouble with these chunky little books, which are easy to stack. Since each contains only four words with accompanying pictures, sometimes we find ourselves reading just one or two, sometimes working our way through the entire box. She now recognizes all the letters and can name almost all the pictures, and the box is holding up well despite regular use.

I'm surprised that a couple of reviews mention the illustrations unfavorably. They are simple, expressive and stylish.
