Summary: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day
Review: "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" is a wonderful book with great illustrations. Everyone can relate to and enjoy this story. "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" will interest all children. It is about a day where nothing goes right. Alexander has the day that all children have one in awhile. This story helps children see feelings expressed that they might be just experiencing and may not know how to express them. They can see that these feeling are normal and there is nothing wrong with feeling these ways. Alexander experiences rejection when his friend says he "wasn't his best friend anymore." At lunch Alexander becomes jealous when his friend "got a Hershey bar with almonds" and another friend got a "piece of jelly role" and Alexander's mother forgot to pack desert in his lunch. The language and style are just right for children reading this book. The language is neither to hard or simple. It is not too wordy so children are able to keep up with the story. The language is not too advanced. Children can comprehend what is being said. The language and style are not too simple. Children will not lose interest in the story as they read or hear this book. The illustrations are black and white. Everything is shaded in with straight lines. This creates the dark and bad mood Alexander is experiencing. There are parts of the story that would not be as effective with out the illustrations. When Alexander is in his father's office he creates a mess. He spills things and knocks papers everywhere. The illustration depicts an angry father whose desk is a disaster. The illustrations show a disheveled haired boy with a grimace on his face. With out the illustrations the mood of the boy and scenes around him would not come alive or be expressed as well as they were. "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" is a great book for every child to read. The story is one that helps children learn about emotions. The children can relate to and understand the wonderful illustrations. As a future teacher I would read this to my students.

Summary: a terrible day book
Review: i discovered this book when i was in grade skool and i remember running home and telling my mom all abt it, how it was just like what i used to go through. it's abt this little boy named alexander who has the worst day of his life (or so he thinks.) he wakes up with gum in his hair, goes to skool with no dessert in his lunch, finds a cavity at the dentist's office, wants the sneakers with the red stripes but his brother got them first so he has to have the plain white ones, has lima beans for supper, and is forced to go to sleep in train pajamas. it's such a cute book simply becuz you know kids go through it everyday. if ever yr child is having a bad day, read them alexander and see if they don't improve attitudes just a little.

Summary: Everyone's had a day like this
Review: The drawings are cute pen and ink sketches. I think everyone has had a bad day like this. I'm not sure that running away -- even to somewhere as wonderful as Australia is the best solution to ones troubles.

Summary: Made my terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days better!...
Review: I used to awaken to gum in my hair. Not very often, mind you, but I can see how that could start off a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. The main reason we bought this for our son was simply for the boy's name. However, I remembered reading it when I was a child; the simplicity of the story really makes it that much better. It's very easy to comprehend, and VERY easy to sympathize with Alexander. It's hard to believe such great character development, depth and storytelling can exist in a children's book with barely a sentence on each line, but it's happened with the Alexander books. I look forward to reading them to my son for years.

Summary: NOT JUST FOR THE KIDDIES.....
Review: I adore this book not only because it's an excellent children's book, but because it appeals to the child in all of us. When I'm having a bad day, I simply pick this book off of my shelf, read it, and find myself laughing my troubles away. It's easy to forget that we shouldn't sweat the small stuff, and this is an important lesson for children as well as for "bigger" children. Alexander helps me keep in tune with my own child's moods and days- I've learned to accept a few more messes here and there. Buy a copy for your office today! It will put a smile on your face

Summary: why introduce such a negative attitude?
Review: If you like your kids to learn how to be frustrated and learn to look for things to be angry about, this is your book!

Summary: Worst Kids Book
Review: I think this is the worst childrens book I have ever read!!!!! What a horrible example to set for our children. Kids need to understand the reality of life, yet this book sets such a negative tone and creates negative children! No wonder our society is so screwed up!
