Summary: excellent book to prepare the older sibling
Review: After reading about 8 big brother/big sister books, this is one of my top three favorites. The mood of the book is very positive, unlike many others on the subject. Our son enjoys it very much.

Summary: from a Mommy - to - be
Review: I am excepting my second child and this book is wonderful to read to my First. It helps him realize that there is going to be a new addition to our family and it emphasizes that he is very special too. It uses simple words and great pictures to tell a wonderful story! My son loves it and so do I.

Summary: Great book for preparing big brother for new baby!
Review: I bought this book based on Amazon.com reviews and am so glad I did. My son is only 16 months old but he loves this book! We read it over and over again and I do believe he is starting to understand the concept of mommy having a baby in her belly and that he will be a big brother soon. It is so cute, the illustrations are great and the story is perfect. I would highly recommend this book to parents preparing a child of any age for a new sibling!

Summary: What a great little book!
Review: I bought this book for my 6 year old son just before the birth of his brother. We loved it! It is short for kids who need an introduction but might not want to dwell on the subject, very positive about all the family relationships - especially about being a sibling, friendly and engaging. The reason I really like the Big Brother/Big Sister difference is that the sibling-to-be spends a couple of months hearing that he or she will be a brother or sister and this book follows right along! I did enjoy the breastfeeding illustration, unobstrusive and just as easily a cuddling illustration, which is something many books skip right over. If there was anything disappointing about the book it's the fact that our Big Brother had no interest in looking at it once the baby was here. But, hey, why should I be upset with a book for answering all my son's questions so soon and so easily? ... it was well worth what he got out of it for 3 weeks' worth of reading. I recommend this book highly!

Summary: Great book for sibling
Review: I bought this book for my son when I was in the last trimester of pregnancy. He loved the book, asked lots of questions and the baby is now 7 months old and I still read the book to my son. A nice, quick read for those nights you are tired but you child wants a story. It also easy for little ones to understand the concept.

Summary: PREPARES SIBLINGS FOR THE NEW BABY!
Review: I bought this book for my stepson while I was still pregnant. I was worried he would become jealous once the baby was born. He was three at the time and loved this book. It really helped him understand that babies aren't capable of doing the things he does, which he was having a hard time grasping. He couldn't wait to "play baseball and build blocks as soon as his baby brother came out" of my "belly". I did have to make minor changes while reading the story because it is written with "Mommy & Daddy" but that wasn't a big deal. He's now 4 and my son is 5 months and this book remains one of his favorites. He always wants to "help give baby the bottle just like the GREAT big brother in the book to be the BEST big brother in the whole world"! It also let's siblings know that they are just as special and loved as the "new" baby is. God Bless!

Summary: Good for older toddlers, preschoolers
Review: I bought this book to help my almost-three-years-old son adjust to the idea of a new baby brother or sister. He loves it and asks to read it about four times a day. The text is easy to understand. It explains some of babies' limitations ("Too little to walk. Too little to talk.") and also talks about why babies cry, etc. The illustrations are really sweet and everyone is smiling, even the kitty cat.

The one thing I don't like about this book is that it assumes the mom will be bottlefeeding. There are bottles in several pictures (one shows the brother giving a bottle). Since we breastfeed, I would have preferred a book where the mother nurses the baby. However, this hurdle was easily overcome by some quick mommy text improvisation. ("Babies like to nurse," instead of "Babies like to drink milk"). All in all, it's a great sibling book and one I don't hesitate to recommend.

Summary: A great book for toddlers/preschoolers
Review: I give this book (and its companion, "I'm A Big Sister") to every family I know who is about to have a new baby arrive. It has proven to be excellent in preparing a young child for the arrival of a sibling. I only have one gripe - the assumption of one manner of feeding. It would be much better written to have both options alluded to, as in, "Babies need milk." (which is in the text) with a picture of baby nursing along with a picture of Daddy or big sibling giving a bottle. Then each family could adapt it to their situation. I am glad, however, that the bottle-feeding illustration shows the Daddy giving the bottle, which does happen in some breast-feeding families. Would love a revision to include both situations, however! All in all, a WONDERFUL book!

Summary: Best Book Ever!!!!!
Review: I have been looking some time now for a book for my son that tells him about having a new baby. I really like how this book tells what all a new baby can't do yet (ex. new babies can't talk, walk, play with toys yet, and can't eat pizza or ice cream). Then the book goes on to tell what babies can do (ex. Babies like to drink milk, stay warm and cozy, and best of all the baby loves to look at me because I'm the big brother!). The book makes the brother of the baby feel special because the book explains to them that they are a big boy and a new brother. It lets them know that they can help mommy and daddy with the baby! My son is only 2 1/2 but loves this book more than I thought he would. He now talks about can't waiting for his new baby to get here. Now He tells everyone that he is a big brother, my little guy is just so proud of this! This is a very well writen book, easy to understand even for a 2 year old. As a new mom to be I also love this book, it helps explain things that I wasn't sure how to.

Summary: Good book--I wish the baby was bestfed!
Review: I really enjoy this book and my 3 year old does to. The first night we read it he wanted me to read it again 3 times! He really does enjoy it and we have read it every night since.

My only complaint is that the baby is bottle fed. I teach my children that babies are breastfed since that is how we are intended to feed our babies! Our babies don't get milk made for cows--they get milk made especially for them!
