Rating: Summary: As enchanting as ever Review: I'm 30 now, and my nephew is 10. He left his D'Aulaires' book on my couch on a recent visit with the family, and I sat down and read it from cover to cover, much as I used to when I was 10. It was like finding an old friend, the ancient stories, the glorious illustrations that used to haunt me like dreams, the world it evoked. What a wonderful, wonderful piece of childhood to suddenly stumble on. The next time on Amazon, I ordered a copy, and now it sits next to my well worn copy of Lytton' Strachey's biography of Queen Victoria. I figure legends belong together.
Rating: Summary: Informative entertainment to last a lifetime Review: I read this book in 5th grade, almost 30 years ago. It was my first exposure to mythology of any sort and had a profound impact upon me. I've read several books on various mythologies since and all are pale contenders compared to this triumph of written and graphical art.

I'm glad to know it's still in print so that my son can read it when his interest in Greek mythology develops. Really, it is a fabulous book.
