Rating: Summary: A Children's favorite (and also this adult's!) Review: My mom got a copy of this book for the family when I was 6 or 7 and I read it so much that the pages fell out. I memorized the myths and told them to my friends. This books started a life-long love of mythology--okay, so I'm only 23--still, I adore the human foibles of the gods, and I LOVE the illutstrations. They have ingrained in me the way I see the Greek Gods and inspired me to take a trip to Athens and the rest of Greece. As I stood at Leto's rock in Delfi, tears came to my eyes. I realized that I was where she had given baby Apollo the mission to take it as his own temple, and the majesty and history of the place nearly overcame me. My mom got me a copy of this for my 21st birthday, and it was the best present I had gotten (and have gotten) in a long time. If you like Greek myths, you will love this book. If you just like stories, you will love this book. The only inaccuracy is that to make the stories age-appropriate, many of Zeus' "adventures" are somewhat censored, but not in a major way.
Rating: Summary: Splendid Review: A splendid book to read aloud to children. My kids may not owna pair of Nike shoes, but they have something better -- now they knowwhere the brand's name comes from.
Rating: Summary: Make that 1,000 stars! Review: I cannot praise this book enough. As several other reviewers have said, I checked this book out countless times as a child, and I can honestly say that it was my most beloved book as a youngster and changed the entire course of my life. Because of this book I have developed a profound love of the Classics and Ancient History that has been such a treasure to me throughout the years. Now I am majoring in Classics in college and plan to go on to graduate school, eventually hopefully becoming a professor in this area, and I honestly believe I owe it all to this book. It completely enchanted and enchants me, from the beautiful drawings to the stories to...just everything. Simply gorgeous and breathtaking. Recommended for people of every age who love timeless tales.
Rating: Summary: A slice of my childhood Review: As an elementary student, I checked this book out repeatedly to read the stories of the ancient gods. I don't know if that battered version is still at the school, but I'm thrilled to finally have my own copy. And to share it as a gift to another school library. The illustrations are wonderful and the writing absorbing for all ages.
Rating: Summary: spanning generations Review: As a child I used this books for leisure as well as research for reports. As a teacher I use this book for lessons and presentations as well as a source for my students to gather information for projects. It is one of the best and complete books available for children to learn about greek mythology.

Rating: Summary: A wonderful experience Review: This was my favorite book as a child and was extrememely helpful when I got into high school and already knew all of the gods and goddesses that we had to memorize. (Although I was shocked to hear the racier treatment that was given in freshman English) These stories are great at any age and adults will love them as much as children do.
