Summary: Kindergartners LOVE this book!
Review: I first read this book to my 5 and 6 year old students during our transportation unit and they loved it. The great part about this book is that it is interactive. The kids get to yell their little hearts out making sure that the pigeon does not drive the bus. The other cool thing is that the pigeon says things that the kindergartners might say in an effort to persuade their parents to let them do something. I have been reading this story almost every day when we have a spare moment. It's a classroom favorite!

Summary: Boring
Review: I guess I'm in the minority but I just didn't like this book. The plot was too simplistic. It's mostly a monologue by the pigeon. I know it's meant to portray a child making appeals to get their way but it just fell flat for me.

The drawings were also much too simplistic. They don't have much detail or much color. My girls (age 3.5) weren't that taken with it.

Summary: FUNNY
Review: I just lurve this book it's so simple and well designed, yet totally hilarious. Mo Willems captures the essence of a 5 year old pleading to do something they shouldn't! It's great!!!

Summary: As a teacher . . .
Review: I love this book. I read it to every young child I can. Everytime without fail the child becomes engaged in the dialouge. They howl and scream and promise that they will not let the pigeon drive the bus. Mo Williams has created a wonderfully precocious main character that has a good solid handle on five-year-old logic. I also loved the firm teaching that "no" is an important word to know.

Summary: This book is SO Good!
Review: I picked up this book in the library because I was intrigued by the title. What a pleasure to stumble across such a wonderful book! My children, brother and my husband all enjoyed telling the pigeon "NO!" over and over again! We read it at least 20 times before having to return it to the library.

I *loved* the illustrations. Another reviewer called them deceptively simple. I couldn't disagree more. This is a great book!!

Summary: Every toddler should own this book
Review: Mo Willems' simple illustrative style, dialogue with attitude and engaging pigeon wins over toddlers and parents alike. This book is unlike most out there -- the color palette doesn't scream at you (though the pigeon does for a just a moment) and each spread encourages interactivity.

Review: My 3 year old LOVES this book! The pictures are simply drawn and the story completely engages him. He is giggling "NO!" at every page. He asks for this book so often that he recites to me now.

Summary: Horribly boring
Review: My five year old son and I read between 15-20 books per week. I think this is one of the most boring books I've read. It inspires no imagination or conversation. My mother thinks it is cute. My five year old was amused during the first read.
