Rating: Summary: The first edition is abridged enough Review: I don't understand why reviewers think a revised edition is required for younger babies. My son of 6 months pays full attention to the unabridged edition, from A to Z and loves it. The only nice thing about this new edition is the board book format. The "revisions" are lame and unwarranted.
Rating: Summary: Dr. Seuss without pages that can be ripped out. Review: I love Dr. Seuss books. What I like best are the board books. I can read this to my baby and even let her play with it without the worry of her eating pages.
I think every generation should start off with Dr. Seuss
Rating: Summary: it sounds like a song as you read with colorful pictures Review: I recieved this book as a gift. My son is 3 1/2 months old and he loves the colorful pictures ! I am not the worlds best singer but it sounds so nice as I read to him. We both enjoy reading the book over and over and over. It makes a great little gift!
Rating: Summary: Babies LOVE the bouncing rhyme! Review: I was skeptical regarding this book... changing Seuss seemed blasphemous. However, someone forgot to tell my 5 month old son there were words missing. He squeals with delight everytime I read him this book! In fact, it is so easy to remember, that everytime he gets fussy in the car, all I have to do is start chanting "Big A, little a, What begins with A?" and he quiets down to hear me 'sing' the rest of the book. What a great introduction to Seuss for the very young!! They can graduate to the original story when they get older and can sit still longer.
Rating: Summary: NOT the original text Review: I've read _Dr Seuss's ABC_ an uncountable number of times. As a result -- and like many of you who have suffered from a toddler's tendency to fixate on a favorite book -- I can recite almost the entire thing from memory. (I get tripped up occasionally on the sections that run through the alphabet-to-date -- I want to go on to the next rhyme instead of saying ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO...P!) I therefore consider myself qualified to say that this 'abridged' board book is NOT THE REAL THING. Let me recommend that you ignore this and find the original version. If you're worried about pages getting torn by the your youngest 'readers,' let me suggest that you buy several cheap used copies, and replace them as needed, instead of buying this sturdy but graceless cardboard version.

Rating: Summary: A Seuss Standard Review: It's a Seuss classic that brings back fond memories from my childhood.
Rating: Summary: This is my daughter's favorite book!!! Review: My daughter has had this book since she was 6 months old (she's 15 months old now) and it is her favorite book, I have read it so many times that I have it memorized. She brings it to me to read at least 3 times a day. Her copy got so worn from all the hugs and taking it everywhere with her that I had to buy a new one. The longer version is great but board books are better when you have a small one.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite! Review: My daughter is 10 months old, and really enjoys me reading to her. This is not only fun for her and my husband to listen to, but it's about my favorite to read so far. I'm very interested in the unabridged version the other reader recommended, but wouldn't dismiss this small board book for the car, and such.
Rating: Summary: get the complete book - it's fantastic Review: My only complaint with this book is that it excludes much of the original story and therefore the rhymes in the board book version are awkward. My daughter learned to recognize her abc's (at least the capital ones) from this book by 18 months. Board books are great for babies, but little kids will handle paper books just fine, particularly if they love them. As a mom & a children's librarian, I just have to say how SAD I think it is that publishers are so desperate for a buck that they'd cut a marvelous story from a genius like SEUSS down - just to get us to buy 2 versions of it!
