Rating: Summary: My two-year-old's favorite!! Review: It's bedtime at the zoo, all of the animals are going to sleep.....or ARE they?? A sneaky gorilla is helping the animals escape! The zoo-keeper gets a big surprise when the lights go out at his house! We've read it a zillion times and we crack up every time.
Rating: Summary: I read this story to my two year old 5 times a night!!!! Review: My little boy LOVES this story and so do his parents. Peggy is a smart woman who has a keen insight into a little one's mind. Her illustrations are such that you can read the story over and over and still see new things (like the mouse carrying a banana on a string on every page). My toddler yells the words and then gasps and throws his hand over his mouth. I won't spoil the story line for you. PLEASE BUY THIS BOOK for your little ones. Even my 8 month old loves it.
Rating: Summary: Good Night Gorilla Review: What a charming book! My 2 year old follows the mouse carrying the banana on each page. The animals are adorable. The story is so cute and easily understood. It provokes lots of laugher and smiles and can be a great addition to home library.
Rating: Summary: Best night-time book ever! Review: We got this book from my step-father-in-law and my son loves this book so much he has to read it everynight. He giggles and laughs everytime he reads it. My son learned how to spell "Zoo" from reading this book. I highly recommend this book to all parents. A great book to have.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous- the illustrations are hilarious! Review: My almost 2 year old son will not go to sleep until he reads this book! A zookeeper is locking up for the night and checking that all the animals are secure in their cages. Little does he know that the gorilla (who is so funny looking at us while making the "shhh!" sign)has swiped his keys and is following him around, unlocking all the animals cages. Eventually, the zookeeper goes home, unknowingly with all the animals in tow. They all crawl into bed with the zookeepers wife, who, after discovering there's far more than 2 in the bed, must take all the animals back. The gorillas facial expressions are priceless, and when you read it, note the pictures on the zookeepers walls- his wedding photo is there, and while his wife is in a wedding dress, he's wearing his zookeeper uniform! It's the little hilarious attention to details that make this book as enjoyable for adults as it is for kids.
Rating: Summary: Forget the toddler - the adults wanted this book! Review: We checked this book out of the library for our 18-month old. She loves it, but we're buying it because my husband and I decided we simply must own it for ourselves. The illustrations are absolutely irresistable. Every time we read it with our daughter, we find another detail to point out to her and chuckle over. I also agree with the reviewer who noted this book is ideal for the "interactive" reading style the experts now recommend for young children. The book is short on text but long on charm and imagination for children and grownups.
Rating: Summary: Better each time! Review: This book is deceptively simple. There are tiny tributes to so many other children's books all through it- Goodnight Moon, Babar the Elephant, to name a few. There's even an Ernie doll in the Aardvark's pen. The book is definitely a nightly classic in our house and I give it at baby showers.
Rating: Summary: Simply wonderful Review: Many child development experts now know that if you don't just read a book but embellish on every page, your child will learn more and be much more interested in reading. Good Night, Gorilla is *ideal* for this style of reading and learning. Each of the first ten or so times I read it to my daughter, I noticed a new detail that had slipped my attention previously. My favorite fun detail is the balloon s-l-o-w-l-y rising into the sky. You can see the balloon or its trailing string on almost every page. I recommend this book whole heartedly and will continue to read it to my daughter until she tells me to get over it. ;^)
Rating: Summary: This book is a true MUST HAVE for your bookshelf! Review: I shared this book with my daughter when she was around 2. She loved the page where the animals say goodnight to the wife, pointing to each bubble and "reading" each good night then would quickly turn the page and pointing to the eyes, say eyes in a deep 2 year old voice and proceed to crack up. This was repeated many times. I am now sharing this book with my son with the same sense of hilarity. If you need a laugh at the end of a long hard adult day, curl up with your toddler and this book.
Rating: Summary: A Great Bedtime Story For Little Ones Review: Probably best suited for 3-6 year-olds, it is a book of excellent illustrations, but few words. The beauty of the book is it provokes conversation between parents and children as to what is happening on each page. Your young children will probably never tire of this book.
