Summary: My 2-year-old son's favorite book
Review: Every night, I'll read several stories to my 2-year-old, but he always insists that we end with a reading of "Goodnight Gorilla" - he loves the facial expressions on the gorilla, and thanks to this book, now knows what armadillos and hyenas are...even if he can't quite pronounce 'armadillo' yet.
It's a wonderful, silly book. If your child likes "Goodnight Moon," (s)he will probably get a kick out of this silly story.

Summary: could be applied to music class
Review: A music teacher could use this book as an enjoyable eartraining lesson. "Good night, gorilla" could be sung and played as E-G-E-E-E. In fact, all of the captions in the book could be sung on E and G only.

Summary: Makes *me* laught every time
Review: I'm not sure my 22-month-old actually gets the humor in the gorilla taking the keys out of the zookeepers pocket, but she loves the story on whatever level she's understanding it. She loves zoo animals so it's fun to think of them doing something other than standing around in the zoo staring back at us. I highly recommend this book: great illustrations, clever (and few) words and a great little story line. I expect my daughter to come to understand and appreciate this book on many levels.

Summary: A wonderful book!
Review: This is a wonderful book for children and adults alike. As a zookeeper makes his rounds and says good night to his charges, a growing parade of animals follows him home to bed. Be sure to look closely at all of the little details in each of the cages...and be sure to follow the antics of the mouse with the banana as well!

Summary: Excellent "night-night" story!
Review: My 23-month-old son loves this book. We read it multiple times every night. The illustrations are so cute and there is always something new to find (check out the neighbor's house each time the animals parade to and from the zookeeper's and what each animal keeps in its cage) and each little extra really adds to the narrative. If your child loves animals, like my son, I highly recommend this book. It's simple, but very well done.

Summary: Goodnight Gorilla
Review: My son got this book when he was 15 months old and absolutely LOVES IT! He loves the animals at the zoo. There is one page where the lights are out and you can see a set of eyes in the dark. When this page is approaching, he gets so excited. This is by far his favorite book.

Summary: Simple and fun for kids
Review: This book tells an amusing story (the gorilla lets all the animals out of the zoo and they curl up to bed with the gatekeeper and his wife) with virtually no text, just illustrations. For this reason, I found this a little daunting the first couple of times that I read it to my 2 year old son - what should I say? how to describe what was happening? Then I realised that of course he never follows the words on a page anyway, that they are just there as a guide to me and that I would be better off using the book as a talking point. As a consequence no two readings are the same and we both really enjoy sharing this book together.

Summary: Not Just About the Gorilla!
Review: Wordless picture books give children the opportunity to create their own story by what they see. My one-year old picked up on items in the story that I never saw. For example, he pointed out that on every page appears the balloon, the mouse and the banana. Perception is wonderful, and I only perceived the primary animals. His perception followed the mouse's escapades as well as the balloon's departure into the night sky.

That's the beauty of wordless picture books - perception.

Summary: Proof kids have a sence of humor
Review: If you want proof your toddler gets a joke, try this book. The pictures are funny and my little toddler laughs everytime we read this book.

The illustrations are charming. You can tell the gorilla is just the trouble maker of the bunch from page one because his facial expressions are so expressive.

Very Cute and well worth the money. One of my personal favorites.
