Review: One of our dogs died of heart failure (quite a surprise) while we were on vacations. We were struggling with how to break the news to my barely-3 year old son. Frankly, we started by telling him that Johnny had been sick and was at the doggie hospital. We needed a "way" to tell him about heaven and death, but we were totally frozen with how to put it, so a young child would grasp the idea. This book was recommended by a friend after her kids (3 and 5) lost their dog and it was really a God sent! We told our son that Johnny had "died" and that he sent him this book so our son could know more about the wonderful place Johnny was staying. My son was ecstatic and happy to know where is beloved friend was and I was gulping for air because of the beauty and simplicity of the drawings and text. One of the best books I've seen!

Summary: Greatest book to give someone who has lost their best friend
Review: I read this book at a store in the dog section, and ended up bawling. Many years later, a friend called to say that her little nephew's dog had died, and asked if I knew of a book to help deal with the death. I hadn't forgotten this book. Since then, I have sent it to anyone who has lost their dog. One friend read the first page and put it away for a month before he could pick it up again and finish it off. Highly, highly, highly recommend it.

Review: This book came highly recommended when my daughter was four years old and our beloved mutt Sam died.The bright colors jump out at you and help fill the darkness left by the missing pet. They certainly helped ease the mind of my sad four year old. It has since been looked at and loaned out over and over again. I think it is a timeless book on a tough subject.

Summary: A wonderful book for all who have just lost their dog
Review: We just lost our canine friend and companion of many years. This book helped a lot with the grieving process. The words and pictures of this simple book painted a comforting picture and one deserving of a dog like ours. We highly recommended it for those who have just had a dog go over the rainbow bridge or as a gift for someone else who is in that situation. We also recommend that elementary school libraries stock this book to make it more accessible to their students.
