Summary: Hedwig to his friends with pleas
Review: for help, and they had risen to the occasion magnificently. Hedwig had returned from Hermione's house with a large box stuffed full of sugar-free snacks. (Hermione's parents were dentists.) Hagrid, the Hogwarts gamekeeper, had obliged with a sack full of his own homemade rock cakes. (Harry hadn't touched these; he had had too much experience of Hagrid's cooking.) Mrs. Weasley, however, had sent the family owl, Errol, with an enormous fruitcake and assorted meat pies. Poor Errol, who was elderly and feeble, had needed a full five days to recover from the journey. And then on Harry's birthday (which the Dursleys had completely ignored) he had received four superb birthday cakes, one each from Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, and Sirius. Harry still had two of them left, and so, looking forward to a real breakfast when he got back upstairs, he ate his grapefruit without complaint.
Uncle Vernon laid aside his paper with a deep sniff of disapproval and looked down at his own grapefruit quarter.
"Is this it?" he said grumpily to Aunt Petunia.
Aunt Petunia gave him a severe look, and then nodded pointedly at Dudley, who had already finished his own grapefruit quarter and was eyeing Harry's with a very sour look in his piggy little eyes.
Uncle Vernon gave a great sigh, which ruffled his large, bushy mustache, and picked up his spoon.
The doorbell rang. Uncle Vernon heaved himself out of his chair and set off down the hall. Quick as a flash, while his mother was occupied with the kettle, Dudley stole the rest of Uncle Vernon's grapefruit.
Harry heard talking at the door, and someone laughing, and Uncle Vernon answering curtly. Then the front door closed, and the sound of ripping paper came from the hall.
Aunt Petunia set the teapot down on the table and looked curiously around to see where Uncle Vernon had got to. She didn't have to wait long to find out; after about a minute, he was back. He looked livid.
"You," he barked at Harry. "In the living room. Now."
Bewildered, wondering what on earth he was supposed to have done this time, Harry got up and followed Uncle Vernon out of the kitchen and into the next room. Uncle Vernon closed the door sharply behind both of them.
"So," he said, marching over to the fireplace and turning to face Harry as though he were about to pronounce him under arrest. "So."
Harry would have dearly loved to have said, "So what?" but he didn't feel that Uncle Vernon's temper should be tested this early in the morning, especially when it was already under severe strain from lack of food. He therefore settled for looking politely puzzled.

Summary: The best of the "companion" books
Review: Out of all the companion books for Harry Potter, these are the best. They are cleverly written and quick reads!

Summary: Be forewarned - Im a huge Harry Potter fan.
Review: For those of you who don't like Harry Potter, believe its of the devil, or simply can't get past the fact that its classified as a "kids" book - then this review is not for you.

So now, for those who actually LIKE and appreciate the series -

Im a big fan of the Harry Potter series... although I didnt become one until 2 years ago! So - how could I NOT like if nothing but for the cuteness factor of it and the fact that it ties right in with the HP series - as being part of the "curriculum" at Hogwarts! My favorite part of the books are the drawings, scribbles, and notes "written" back and forth between the kids (harry, hermione, ron). They totally crack me up at times because they make referance to scenes from the book. Its as if they "personally" used the books and doodled in them during class just like we all did as school kids during a boring lecture.. ;) Its very cute and worth getting if you like little "special" additions that enhance the atmosphere of the imaginary Harry Potter world.

Summary: just not my thing
Review: I used to be really interested in these books, but as I got older, they got less and less appealing. They are great for people who are interested in the supernatural, and are no older than about twelve.

Summary: Awesome
Review: I haven't even looked through these completely yet and I already love them. I actually haven't even opened the Quidditch book, the "Fantastic Beasts..." book is excellent enough! Its like a dictionary of the different magical creatures. And since it is supposed to have belonged to Harry, there are notes written here and there by Harry and Ron. I would recommend buying this set for anyone who loves the Harry Potter books.

Summary: Harry Potter
Review: These books were excellent, like an extension of the much-loved main Harry Potter books with interesting content about creatures & quidditch history. Of course the boxed set is better because it encloses two good books in one! I enjoyed them and the humurous notes along the margins, but did find the books somewhat monotonous at times.
A great reference book for HP fans!

Summary: One note..
Review: I really enjoyed reading both of these books, but I am a fan of all things Harry Potter. One note I feel must be made in addition to the other reviews is this: These books were written, published, etc. with no intent of making money off of the Harry Potter craze. As indicated on the back of the book and the introduction, all proceeds from these books were donated to a fund for needy children. This is also pointed out on this page under the heading "From the Publisher." I found this very admirable, and I felt moved to point this out to anyone considering purchasing these books!

Review: Harry Potter Schoolbooks Box Set: Two Classic Books from the Library of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
by J. K. Rowling is a fun and silly collection of Hogworths school books. It is a pity that Hogworths is not for real since the books are fun and "educational".

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Disappointing
Review: Hardcore Harry fans who want everything Potter will want these, but they're unfulfilling to the average reader. Children and adults alike will quickly recognize these as an attempt to make more money off the Harry Potter craze. The novels are much more fun. These are as dry as....well, a textbook. I'd rather sit through six full periods of Professor Snape.
