Rating: Summary: She's done it again... Review: I, like most of the world, am awaiting the release of the fifth episode in the Harry Potter series. Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastical Beasts and Were to Find them hascontented me until then. Quidditch through the ages gives a very in depth back ground to the sport, and there are even exerpts from "historic" letters and Daily Prophet articles. The evolution of the Golden Snitch was very interesting. I especially enjoyed Fantastical Beasts. The notes left in the margins by Harry and Ron, add a touch of personality. I found the history of the beast versus being great! As a writer, I find the time, effort and imagination that J.K.Rowling has put into these books staggering. MAybe some day she will find the time to write Hogwarts a History. It's no wonder that she has put her foot down and said that she needs more time for the fifth book. I commend her and encourage others to puchase these books. Besides, it's for a great cause.
Rating: Summary: Harry's Schoolbooks Review: These are the books that Harry used in school (As said on J. K. Rowling's world famous hits, Harry Potter). ->Quidditch through the ages: Quidditch is the wizard sport played on brooms, there are 4 balls: 1 Quaffle (to score goals), 2 bludgers (to hit players off their brooms), and, the most important, the Snitch (a gold winged ball that flies around the field; the game ends when it is catched); there are also 7 players: 2 batters (they hit the bludgers forward the opponent team), 3 chasers (They score th goals), 1 keeper (keeps the other team from scoring) and 1 chaser (Harry, who must catch the snitch). On page 181 of HP and the Sorcerer's Stone (Paperback Edition), Hermione lent to Harry the book "Quidditch through the ages", Harry learned with this book that there were 700 ways of committing a foul and that all of them had happened during a World Cup match in 1473; that seekers were usually the smallest and fastest players, and that most serius injuries semed to happen to them; that although people rarely died playing Quidditch, referees had been known to vanish and turn up months later in the Sahara Desert. ->Fantastic beasts & where to find them: This is an Encyclopaedia that J.K. Rowling mentoined on her chat with URK live (I think, I can't remember well), she said that she would make some while-to-wait books that were related to her books. What comes inside it is not a sure thing, but it includes all the beasts seen on HP books (kappas, werewolves, boggarts, phoenixes, etc) and new ones (Who knows what she'll come up with). But THERE IS a thing that I can assure you, these books must be worth the wait and they are coming soon. Remember, all the earnings will go to charity (Rowling mentioned that too). THIS IS A MUST-GET BOOK and I already reserved it.
Rating: Summary: Nice, but not essential (but buy it for charity!!!) Review: I've been a great fan of the Harry Potter books since the beginning. Waiting for a new book to come out was always very hard. Now, thanks to Comic Relief, there are two new books, closely related to the Harry Potter series: - Quidditch through the ages - Fantastic Beasts & Where to find them From the beginning it is clear that these two books are nice, but not essential. First of all, they try be be as "cutesy" as possible by using a lot of standard marketing tricks (give the cover a ragged look, label one of them with "Property of: Harry Potter". We've seen this kind of thing enough with a lot of tie-ins to popular series, so the magic of it has worn off. I liked the Quidditch book best, because it has all the speed and creativity of the other Harry Potter books. The "Fantastic Beast" book is merely a long list of beasts and is, to be realy honest, quite dull to read. And I did not like the handwriting which sprawls over some pages (We all know what Hagrid does, J.K., so stop making irrelevant references to it...) Let's say "Quidditch" deserves 4 stars because of the fact that the author went very far in explaining the evolution of that silly game (and yes, I like silly games), and the Fantastical beasts get 2 stars. Because of the fact that it is for charity (reason enough to buy this book, you Muggle!) I raised the average 1 point. Oh yeah, I need to mention that I got hold of these books on March 11th, which is very nice because: - I bought this in Belgium and everyone told me that it would be available only from the 12th; - inside "Quidditch" there is a list which indicates that Harry returned this book to the library on the 11th (isn't it nice to have a library where you can return books on a sunday?) By all means, buy the book, enjoy it, and wait very patiently for Book 5 of the "real" Harry Potter series.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: Well... It is good for those super Hogwart fans, and those online schools these books can be really useful. You should buy it if you really enjoy Harry's School, Hogwarts!
Rating: Summary: A comical, real to life and funny new work from J.K. Rowling Review: These two new Harry Potter related books written by author J.K. Rowling, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM and QUIDDITCH THROUGH THE AGES are not only for a worthy cause, but the books themselves should be read by all Harry Potter fans and added to the Harry Potter collection. Delightfully written, with hilarious side notes and funny notations, these two brand new books are very enjoyable and, though different from the original Harry Potter adventures, are fascinating to read. It's just ase enjoyable as reading an encyclopedia and something totally new and involving. And, as always, J.K. Rowling writes beautifully and professionally, and knows just where to insert humor and scares. Out of the two I'd probably say I loved both of them on the same level. QUIDDITCH THROUGH THE AGES is a very detailed, fascinating book, and FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM is different but just as exciting and original. These two great new Harry Potter books should not be missed, and add a special comical flare to the Harry Potter collection that only a special, gifted author like J.K. Rowling can create.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Textbooks are Fantastic! Review: Ever wondered what it's like to be a Hogwarts student? How on earth Quidditch developed? And where DO you find a Unicorn? All these questions and more are answered in these great new books! Both books are fun, simple reads, about 60 pages each. Quidditch Through the Ages talks about how quidditch evolved from the odd game played in Queerditch Marsh in the eleventh century, to the world-famous sport it is today. You learn how the Golden Snitch got it's name, and how all the balls became what they are today. (The Snitch used to be a bird they released in the ring, until angry activists protested.) There's also bios on all the teams, and descriptions of good moves on a broomstick. Sprinkled throughout are fun bits of poetry: Oh, the thrill of the chase as I soar through the air With the Snitch up ahead and the wind in my hair As I draw ever closer, the crowd gives a shout But then comes a Bludger and I am knocked out Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them describes many of the common beasts found in the Wizarding World, and their danger levels. Very funny, especially the reviews of the book on the inside cover. "I've read worse" Rita Skeeter I found them purely by chance when I was shopping this morning, snatched them up, and read both cover to cover, laughingly reading out little excerpts to my sister. As well as being really cool, they have funny little notes scribbled in the margins by Ron, Harry, and Hermione; once again, I'm reminded what a hilarious sense of humor JK Rowling has. Even the covers are funny, Quidditch Through the Ages being Property of Hogwarts Library, and is sealed with a threat from the librarian, Irma Pince, if anything should happen to it; and Magical Beasts and Where to Find them being property of Harry Potter, and Ron too, cuz he lost his, and spent all his money on Dungbombs. So, I definitely recommend these to any hard-core Harry fan. Hey, for 12 bucks, you can do a lot worse! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: J.K. Rowling meets all our standerds that we've set for her Review: Two more books for all you muggles out there that just can't wait to learn more about the world of Harry Potter. Now, not only can kids spend more time reading, but they can play school with thier fav. persons school books.

Rating: Summary: Best Insight into Hogwarts Curriculum Review: I thought this gave me a wonderful idea of how Harry Potter spent his time studying. I found it to be very helpful in learning more and understanding the first 4 books better. In my opinion, Harry Potter is a wonderful character, and J.K. Rowling is a wonderful author.
Rating: Summary: Warning Review: If your children are Harry Potter fans and read these books the odds are very good that they will throw quotes and 'facts' from these books at you at every opportunity. These books are very short and filled with information that fills in and enhances the novels of the Harry Potter series. I have found that the information within them rounds out Rowlings magical universe. If you are looking for a novel however these are not for you. They are reference books describing some of the magical creatures in the Harry Potter series or explaining the origns and rules of Quiddich. Good easy fun. I would also like to add that these books would be ideal for a child who does not like to read but likes the H.P movies. They just might entice the non reader to pick up the H.P novels.
