Rating: Summary: A Chapter Book All Harry Potter Fans Will Love Review: This book is a great book for all those Harry Potter Fans, and all the people who like fantasy books. The book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is a book all about the magical creatures in the wizarding world. It is almost a nonfictional book, because it is a guide of the creatures we "muggles" can find out about. Of course none of the creatures from the Common Welsh Green Dragon to the rare Erumpent really exist (or do they....). The other book, Quidditch Through the Ages, is about how Quidditch came to be. You learn about all the British teams, and the American teams too. There are other kinds of flying games too, like the game Stichstock and Quadpot. There is also a whole summary of the diffrent broomsticks that have come out since 1879. From the very first Oakshaft79 to the new, speedy Firebolt. This book is a great thing to buy, because part of the profit goes to help all the children of the world. So when you buy this book remember all the dollars and "Galleons" will go to the children that need to have an education. I hope all you Harry Potter fans and all you non-fans love this small chapter book and that your buying of this book is helping somebody go to school.
Rating: Summary: Good Book! Review: I liked it, and read it over and over. It is a helpful book for my website. I find it much to short, that is why I only rate it 4 star, just a bit longer and it would have made 5. I got this book March 18.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: A lot of people have complained that the Harry Potter Schoolbooks are too short, and while I wished they were longer when I got to the end, I did so with every other Harry Potter book as well. J.K. Rowling has covered each topic beautifully, very completely, and all I'm left wanting to know is what the other 690 Quidditch fouls are! (The ten most common are explained). I agree with the "A reader" from NJ, USA (28th March, 2001): all we need now is "Hogwarts: A History"... but the whole of Hogwarts library wouldn't go astray either! Fingers crossed for a big, fat HP #5!
Rating: Summary: But Mum, they're educational! :-) Review: Tell your parents that "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is a vital educational tool. It will teach you heaps of things about mythology and therefore turn you into a brainiac (don't mention that JKR made up quite a few of the Beasts). "Quidditch Through the Ages" is obviously a history book about a team sport, and so must be good for you.Don't mention that they're more of that dreadful Harry Potter, though. Or that they're funny - esp. the notes by Harry and friends in the margins, etc. Quidditch lacks the wonderful notes by Our Heroes, of course, because it's a library book and anyone who writes in books from magical libraries are automatically cursed. (This actually happens in regular libraries too. I know this because I'm a Librarian, and we learn how to put curses on the books in Library School.)
Rating: Summary: Buy these for a good cause *S* Review: First off let me say that a great reason to buy these books is because the profits are going to a great charity. This is your way to make a difference in somebody's life. If you're a fan of Harry Potter, you need to get these books. These are a fantastic supplement to a wonderful series. In the Harry Potter series two mentioned. "Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them" and "Quidditch Through the Ages". It's interesting to read about these books, having the characters refering to them, then actually buying the books. Fantastic Beasts & Where to find them. I can't say enough about this book. It's a wonderful read. The reader will read about the beasts in the Harry Potter series, and get to know where they are located. What I liked about this book is that it covered Beasts that were in this book, and might be in feature books. I also liked how each beast has it's own code to how dangerous it is, and who is best to deal with it. Quidditch through the ages. This is an outstanding book to go along with the series. You can see how Quidditch has grown over the centuries, what the teams are in Britain and Ireland, what the different positions are, what they mean, anti-muggle precautions, and finally Quidditch today. Both of these books add so much pleasure to the series. If you love the series, then I *highly* suggest you get these. They are very cheap to buy, and all of the money that these books earn goes to charity. It's a win win situation. Buy these books, you won't be sorry.
Rating: Summary: More of their world........ Review: This book will give you that. J.K. has clever remarks throughout the books. The money you spend on these books goes to a good cause. So if it turns out you don't like the books you don't have to feel guilty!
Rating: Summary: Great reads but too short Review: I love Harry Potter. These books were cute, and a great way to fill the gap between book 4 and book 5. I preffered Quidditch through the Ages as opposed to Fantastic Beasts and WHere to find them, because when you get right down to it, it's just an encyclopedia. I liked the conversations between Harry, Ron, and Hermione, though. Now if only we could get her to write "Hogwarts, A History"!! I love the fact that JK Rowling is donating the money that she makes off of these books to Comic Relief. Even if you don't like Harry Potter, or if you're not interested in reading the books, buy these. They're not expensive, and they're for a good cause.
Rating: Summary: Judging A Book By Its Cover???? Maybe.... Review: I really enjoy reading the Harry Potter series, but upon receiving these books from my mother, i was slightly dissapointed. Maybe the flimsy appearence of the book dicouraged me, although i should never "judge a book by its cover". However i did, and began reading these two books, tho not in a very 'eager' manner as i would have with any of the other Harry Potter books. These 2 books were very good, although they were very short. In "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" I found the notes written by Harry, Ron, and Hermione added a nice touch to a otherwise slightly boring book. Although this book is for a very good cause, helping children in need everywhere, and it was in some way clever, in terms of enabling ms. rowling in including some statistics about these "fantastic beasts" that might be helpful to the reader in her upcoming books. I found the book on Quidditch a little more interesting than the one on the Fabulous Beasts. However, one has to keep in mind, that it is quite difficult to write a very interesting book that is basically an encyclopedia of some animals, magical or not. I would reccomend these books only to people who are very big Harry Potter fans, and I mean VERY big fans. Although these books are intriguing just because they are by j.k. rowling who i consider to be an excellent author, they are a slight let-down compared to the other books about Harry Potter. I understand that these books were not intended to be about Harry Potter or even really part of the series, however, they were a bit boring on comparison. Nevertheless, as i eagerly await the release of book 5, i do applaud ms. rowling on her wonderful effort to help needy children.
Rating: Summary: buy them its for charity! Review: these two books written for charity show that J.K.Rowling has a fully formed world in which harry and his friends live, both books purport to be the property of Hogwarts school with introuctions by Albus Dumbledore who tells you how hard it was to let Irma Pince school librarian to part with the copy of Quidditch through the ages which in my mind is the weaker of the two volumes created as a charity gift for Comic Relief here in the UK ,Fantastic beasts and where to find them is a great read giving you the lists of many of the magical creatures found in the world which harry and his friends inhabit including notes made by harry and his friends throughout the book and should definitely be read by Hogwarts own Hagrid ,the second book quidditch through the aages in my opinion was not as strong as beasts but is an entertaining read about the history of quidditch and the different teams who play the game you will even find out who Dumbledores favourite team is,all in all a must buy for fans of Harry Potter to keep them from suffering enough cold turkey until the potter onslaught due at the end of the year ,ENJOY!)its for charity.
Rating: Summary: Cool! Review: These are really cool. "Fantastic Beasts" was actually the better of the two, but "Quidditch" had its funny bits too. I noticed, though, that Ms. Rowling seemed to forget some Fantastic Beasts. They were still fun to read though.
