Rating: Summary: The Giver Review: This book remined me of the movie Pleasentville. These people lived in a perfect world with no color. They had no say in what they did, who they married, or who there kids were. They had to tell about their day and their dreams at dinner! The star of the book gets this job as the Receiver of Memories. He has to receive all the memories from the person known as the Giver of Memories. He learns about color and freedom. Some memories he gets are good others are bad. He can't take the memories no more so he decieds he wants to leave. He tells the Giver he wants to leave and so the giver helps him. Before the Receiver leaves he taks a friend with him. If the Receiver and his makes it is for you to find out.
Rating: Summary: Another J.K Rowling hit! Review: Although these two "textbooks" are pretty short, they are hilariously funny and very briliant. Ms. Rowling has proved again that she is one of the best writters of our time. While most of us are awaiting the 5th book of the Harry Potter series with a growing passion, Rowling keeps the world interested in the world of Wizards, Witchery and young Harry by writting these two short, but sweet books that provide a glipse into the world of Harry Potter. They let us see into the imagination of J.K. Rowling but leave us enough room to fill in the blanks she provides with our own opinions, images and thoughts. I highly recomend this book to anyone who has read and enjoyed the Harry Potter books. Not only are they a great read but they provide money to millions of children and other charities around the world.
Rating: Summary: HARRY POTTER SCHOOLBOOKS ; MY REVIEW Review: Quidditch Through the Ages is one great book for Quidditch Fans all around the world. It describes the Quidditch sport thoroughly and wrapped with loads of humours. So we couldn't possibly found it boring. Unfortunately, the text size is minuscule so we have to blink quite often :). But generally, this book's surely another proof of Ms.Rowling's originality and quality in writing. Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them is such a great book. I found out about Crookshank's history in it. And further information about Dragons (4 breeds like mentioned in book 4?, Nah..,10!), Leprechauns, and Pixie! (Prof.Lockhart didn't teach much, you see). What makes this book special ; This is Harrys!. And of course there are Harry's and Ron's (they share this one) handwriting in the pages, and even Hermione's (?) in the front page. This is one Real schoolbook. Ms.Rowling did it again. If the truth must be told : Both worth your collections!.
Rating: Summary: Dangerous and Demonic Material Encouraged On Our Children Review: These books are very dangerous - not funny or games. So many young people seek power over their lives and situations, and think witchcraft is the answer. These books offer knowledge of the evil realm and spells and demons by name. What they don't know is that they themselves are not in control, and getting out after willingly opening themselves to such information can only be accomplished by turning to the only one who is stronger than the demons and Satan himself - Jesus Christ. The books do not give a way out - only a way in.
Rating: Summary: Good or Bad Review: These books looked great whenI ordered them and a I like them, but be prepared, they aren't that big at all. But they are good books, they are imaginitive and helful with the series if you missed something or want more deatil. Quidiitch through the ages gives you a deatailed history of the sport. Fantastic Beats and were to find them is the best of the two, it gives a good discription of creatures from the book, and some you haven't heard of. Thanks for reading!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A VERY big Harry Potter fan Review: I love Harry Potter . Its so fun and mystical . I cant wait for the 5th book !!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: short and sweet Review: I think that the younger Harry Potter fans will like these quaint boooks. I thought it was cute to include "notes" from Harry and his friends. I think that some people reviewing this book may have other hostilies and problems with thier children and families and are taking it out on the author. I am sure you will see one particular review in here that fits that bill. I feel bad for that individual, but misplaced anger should not be put toward a book review. Bottom line, they are short and sweet and inexpensive. I think that Rowling has another hit with the younger set.
Rating: Summary: GET THESE BOOKS Review: I really like these. They add a certain depth to the main four books, and also add a certain charm. J.K. Rowling has, as always, delivered two remarkable books to add to the enchantment of the Harry Potter world, and with that they make the chartacters seem more real.
Rating: Summary: Very funny slices of Harry's life Review: I will admit that it's hard to swallow that these books are rather short for anyone to consider them textbooks -- consider that they are only possibly excerpts from Harry's schoolbooks as we mere Muggles wouldn't understand some of what they say. (Though I too would love to read the complete, thousand page copy of Hogwarts, A History.) I enjoyed the scribbles between Harry, Ron and Hermione in Wild Beasts, and wish there were more of them. Wild Beasts got pretty dry pretty fast. Towards the end I got the feeling that Rowling was racking her brain trying desperately to think of something interesting to say about yet another magical animal. Quidditch was the best book of the pack, easily, even if we didn't have scribbled comments from students in the margins. (Though I really would have enjoyed Ron's commentary on the section about the Chudley Cannons.) I didn't think I'd like it too much -- I never really enjoyed the Quidditch scenes in the books -- but I really liked reading the history of its play. As for Dumbledore's forwards -- I thought they were both fine. A little out of character, yes, but then so is the very thought of a magical book being distributed to Muggles. Ha!
Rating: Summary: BORING!!!! Review: This book was not near as good as JK Rowlings other books. The book is really short and boring(in my opinion). The money from the book does howerver go to charity. If you want a book to read read the Harry potter books, or Holes by Lois Sacher, Ella Enchanted, Richie Tankersley Cusick's books!
