Rating: Summary: Interesting reading for Harry Potter fans Review: First of all, if you're expecting a huge book like "the Goblet of Fire" forget it. These books are extremelly small and should be considered only as some side reading to get a better insight in the Harry Potter series. Don't get me wrong, I do not complain about the price of the books, after all you have to remember the sale profits are going directly to charity, so you should see this books as a way of getting something fun to read while helping the Comic Relief Fund.Quidditch Through the Ages is a nice way of getting to know the development of the game wizards love to play, explained in a way that introduces us to the story line while giving some laughs about the loony wizarding world. Fantastic Beasts was my favorite, it gives you an explanation of several cretures we have seen in the novels and some we have yet to see, in alphabetical order, some with pictures and all of them with a classification according to how dangerous they are. The best feature is that the book has some notes writen by Harry and Ron, wich give a funny twist to the schoolbook look. The only reason I didn't gave it the five stars is because you can see the books lack the deep literary genius of the novels and because you finish reading them with the feeling you could have enjoyed some more of the emotional situations seen in the novels.
Rating: Summary: Helps pass the time until Book 5 comes out! Review: These books are kind of on the short side, but they're still fun. Especially Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This one has little margin notes written by Harry, Ron & Hermione. Very funny. Quidditch Through the Ages covers the sport in great detail. If you had any questions about the game, this will answer them. Both books are a great addition to any Harry Potter fan's library. And it kills time until the next book comes out!
Rating: Summary: Great books...may hold secrets. Review: I was going through "Fantastic Beasts and where to Find them" last night, and I noticed a creature that was mysteriously like a creature in the Harry Potter books themselves. Similar characteristics were described, as well as looks. Could J.K. Rowling have included clues to the books in these books? I sure hope so! They are adorable little books that will keep the older kids and adults excited about turning the page. The little notes written in it by "Ron", "Hermione" and "Harry" are amazingly funny (especially if you have a fair knowledge books 1,2,3&4. Quidditch through the Ages is just as wonderful as Harry makes it out to be. If the pictures wold fly around, it would be just as it is in the books. These two books are going to be collectors items either to the public or any Harry Potter fan. I would suggest getting them...they will definitely help you think up some theories about the next three books! All proceedings go to charity...I hope J.K. Rowling comes out with more! I would LOVE a herbology or Potions book!!!
Rating: Summary: Two great books Review: These are two excellant books, and what's even better: the money all goes to Comic Releif. So even if you read these and decide you have wasted your money, you'll know that it goes to poor children who need them. I got these the first day they came out, and in "Quidditch Through the Ages", it says many interesting facts about Quidditch that have never been mentioned in any of the Harry Potter books, and in the "Magical Beasts and Where To Find Them", Harry and Ron scribble little notes in the margins. They might also say secrets to the three future Harry Potter books. I suggest that any Harry Potter fan should buy these, because they're great books, and it goes to a very good cause.
Rating: Summary: harry potter rox Review: this book is good for all ages and any true harry potter fan will love it. it makes a good accompienment to the actual stories, with the annotations from harry to liven them up and make it seem more real. they are definately worth the money!
Rating: Summary: Laugh your heart out and fund a good cause at the same time Review: Spin-offs of popular series are often not up to standards. Not so in this case: J.K. Rowling has again summoned up all her imaginative powers to prepare two school books of Harry Potter: one on magic beasts and one on the most popular wizard sport ever: quidditch (a don't-try-this-at-home type of sport). Both books are absolutely hilarious, with great beasts in alphabetical order and a very entertaining history of quidditch. Also, the books look like real school books, with remarks from Harry and Ron in them, little written conversations and all those things which you find in school books from 15-year olds after a year of heavy use. The next best thing is that you support a very good cause, namely Comic Relief, a British organization helping the needy. And as mentioned in the introduction: you have to buy these books otherwise you will be hit by an awful spell...
Rating: Summary: Hogwarts for Homeschooled Wizards Review: These books are wonderful. A good scorce of companion knowledge to the series by J.K. Rowling. I feel that it was a good idea that they are donating a portion of each book to charity. Any fan (Old or Young) will enjoy them.
Rating: Summary: It must have been fun to write these. Review: These are very interesting little books. Fantastic Beasts focuses on the odd creatures in the wizard world, some of which were introduced in the novels, and some brand new. It's interesting to read Rowling's take on legendary creatures, and the "notes" from Harry and Ron throughout the book were neat. Quidditch tells the history and rules of this strange sport. While I imagine it would be quite harrowing to watch, it's a lot of fun to read about. Both books in this set have the trademark wit of the novels. I'd recommend them to anyone who is a fan of Harry Potter.
Rating: Summary: Charming Review: Just enough to whet the appetite for those of us waiting for the next book. How can you go wrong for a few bucks and the good feeling knowing you're supporting an excellent charity? Some great tongue-in-cheek scribbles by Harry and his friends and references to allowing Muggles to have access to such info. I think the Fantastic Beasts one is the better of the two.
