Summary: Helpful Beginnings
Review: My 4 year old has been recognizing a number of words for many months now, as well as memorizing Dr. Suess and other simple books. I purchased the first set, plus others for later, to progress onto reading a beginning book. What a great start! My son is reading very well. For me though, I only wish the 'story line' for what it is was more interesting.

Summary: Got my little guy psyched about learning letters!
Review: My 4 yr. old son has little interest in learning letter sounds. He won't do phonics activities, and doesn't like talking about what word starts with what sound, etc. I don't think he sees the point in it. Recently, I had an idea. I thought that even though he only knows a few letters, he might be able to read a very easy book. I took out his sister's Bob Books, and opened book 2,Level A1 - "Sam." Sure enough, HE READ IT!!! The whole family was SO excited, and so was HE!! Now he wants to learn new letters so that he can read more Bob Books. These are the ONLY books I've found that start out with 100% phonetic, EASY words that a brand new reader can really handle! Now he feels he has a reason to figure out what sounds the letters make. This was the trigger for him. It's unbelievable the look on your little kid's face the first time they really read something. These books are a MUST.

Summary: My son loves the Bob Books
Review: My 6 year old son likes to read and color the Bob Books. We have the first 4 sets. He thinks they are funny and he is engaged when he reads them. Each books is just long enough to teach him a new sound/sounds and just short enough so that he isn't intimidated. Thank you, thank you, thank you for these books!

Summary: Bob Books Help Confidence
Review: My daughter had problems with the beginning frustration all new readers face. She does very well in school, but reading wasn't clicking for her yet. Then I got the Bob Books.Within the first two books, she was reading to me without any help. I don't know why these books made it so easy for her, but they did! She now is extremely confident in her ability to learn to read and is working above the rest of her class.

Summary: my 4 year - 2 1/2 month old daughter reads!
Review: My daughter is 4 years and 2 1/2 months old. she knew how to phonetically sound out a word, so, i decided to give this book a try. I also tried the Storybook Treasury of Dick and Jane Book (yellow book - 200 pgs - about $8-). I was amazed that she could read both. The Bob books were easy enough for her to read to herself almost immediately. But, she does prefer the Dick and Jane book for its colored pictures, cute scenes with "puffy" the cat and "spot" the dog, and "baby". The Bob books were not as much of an instant hit, but we continue to rely on them to assist her reading abilities. We have Bob Books First! Set A and B, but probably won't buy any more, and instead I will look for similar Dick and Jane books with cute colored pictures which seem to interest her a little more.

Summary: Bob Books First!
Review: My daughter is just four years old, and we are homeschooling her. We have been using the Abeka curriculum for four year old preschool, and we found the Bob Books to be the perfect companion! We have been working on short vowel sounds, and blends. My daughter recieved the Bob Books two days ago and just can't put them down! She has already read the first seven books! She is so proud of herself, and we are too! Reading has really given her a boost of self esteem, and Bob Books have given her that gift!

Summary: AN AWESOME SET OF BOOKS
Review: My son is five and in kindergarten. I was very unsatisfied with the progress he was making in school and bought the first series of books. Hearing my son read his first book without any help was worth a million times more than cost of this book. The best purchase I've made on Amazon.

Summary: Great books. HIGHLY recommended
Review: My son just turned 4 and I purchased Bob Book FIRST! per the advice of a friend. I was truly amazed that he was able to read the 1st book after we reveiwed it twice. He was so excited we moved on to #2 and #3. I like the way they encorporate a new "sight word" in each book. If you use them along with the the Leap Frog videos LETTER Factory/WORD Factory and Code Word Caper , you will find that the same words are reviewed and your child may zip thru the books even faster AND get really excited as he/she recognizes the words.I find the lack of color is quite helpful because they do not get distracted by anything on the page and can simply focus on the words. Plus, the illustrations are quite comical. This is a MUST buy and I am quite impressed! They cost $16.95 @ The Teacher and Parent Store so I'd find them used online instead. Good luck and happy reading!

Summary: FANTASTIC beginning readers
Review: My son just turned 5 and will not start kindergarten until August, which is 4 months away. He has always been interested in books, and now knows all his letter sounds and has started reading words. So I pulled out my olderest son's first level readers and found the books and words just a bit too hard when you needed to sound them out. Then I saw these Bob Books. ... They looked so simple...BUT WOW! They are PERFECT for that period after letter sounds are learned and before word recognition is solidified. My son loves these, and every day he wants to work on a couple. They make him feel so grown up!! The first time through he has to sound out the words, by the second or third reading, he has the words by sight. He feels very successful and it is such a joy to watch him work through these. I will have him work through the entire set and then start him on "regular books" which he should be more than ready for. I can't say enough good things about these books. I wish I had found these for my oldest son!!!
This morning, after he had read 4 of them, he said "Mom, I LOVE my BOB BOOKS". I LOVE them too!!!

Summary: Bob Books First
Review: My son learned to read using these books when he was 4 years old.
We started sounding the words out and then reading the words. By the time he was 5 he was reading the Harry Potter books by himself and now that he is 7 he is read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy independently.
I have recommended these books to others for their children to learn to read as well. My son liked the line drawings and the characters in the books, I liked the way the books were structured with pictures to help sound words in the beginning and that the books progressively expanded using more words over the course of the series.
We Really loved them!!!
