Rating: Summary: The Eye candy for any child at heart. Review: I and my girlfriend are very big Wizard of OZ fans. So I was told by a affiliate to look into this popup book. So purchased two and found that the book is great. A treat to the eyes and the imagination. This book has a such a amazing designe and structure. An art form in it's own, and something to make even mr giggle like a little kid again. There is way more than meets the eye's to this book.
Rating: Summary: Amazing to adults and children Review: This pop-up book far exceeded my expectations. I ended up showing to several friends before actually giving it to the child for whom it was bought. Intricate detail and complexity are astounding. Care needs to be taken when being given to small children. Opening and closing pages need supervision for small hands to not misalign the pop-up mechanisms. Overall, a truly marvelous find. A exceptional wonder for any fan of Oz.
Rating: Summary: Astounding. Review: What's the most fun you've ever had with a piece of art before? The most fun I've ever had, I have to confess, is opening this book to the pages featuring the Wizard's famous hot air balloon. The set piece, shiny and with its own basket holding the wizard, jumps quite literally off the pages, then swings back and forth in front of you. The amount of joy I experienced with this book at that moment was immeasurable. What's fun about the book, which also has this huge, swirling cyclone in its opening pages that jumps out at you, is that it also remains surprisingly faithful to L. Frank Baum's original WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ, keeping much of the text intact (though, for obvious reasons, the book is not taken and reprinted verbatim) while having the pop-up art serve as a variation upon the original illustrations when possible. I got one of these for myself, one for all the little girls in my family and one for a friend in my office who just needed cheering up one day. It inspires you to read the great story. It inspires you to play with the emerald-colored glasses and all the pop-up images in the side flaps. I was a fan of pop-up books as a kid, but this is the best, most accessible and most beautiful one I have ever held in my hands.
Rating: Summary: Stars are WONDERFULLY Off the Chart ! Review: This is the most well done pop up book I have ever seen! If you are a Wizard of Oz fan, or a POP up FAN, You have got to get this book! The pop ups are astounding and the 3D glasses are just a wonderful touch to this magical book! I have seen books on pop ups, but this one is using the most of all types of pop ups, with very dramatic results! They tell the story, as well as fascinate the eye with the movement!
Rating: Summary: The Steve Reeve Review: The Wizard of Oz is an excellent book, if you want to fulfill your reading strategies. I have read over a million books in my life and this book magnifies my strategic reading capabilities. I would enjoy practicing my reading comprehension on the rest of the Wizard of Oz book set. I am glad my viewpoint on this novel could be pondered on by various individuals who enjoy reading.
Rating: Summary: Utterly beautiful Review: Robert Sabuda is a master at paper magic, and this book is a masterpiece. If you enjoyed his small "help the animals" books, and marveled at the glorious white paper art in the 12 Days of Christmas, wait until the Emerald City rises before your very eyes! Once again, Sabuda has earned his reputation as the world's foremost paper engineer, artist and magician.
Rating: Summary: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: A Commemorative Pop-up Review: This is not your grandfather's pop-up book. The artwork in this book is amazing. In his pop-ups, Robert Sabuda provides intricate detail, vivid colors, and motion that makes it hard to wait before turning to the next page. It rates highly for the rush you feel when you open the first page and the tornado spins out at you! This book is a lot of fun!
Rating: Summary: The first book in a wonderful series Review: The Wizard of Oz is an amazing classic. Reading the book (as is the case with most books) is far more enjoyable than simply watching the movie. The entire series of the Wizard of Oz is no less delightful. There are a great number of simular books which are also quite good to read. These include Abacar the Wizard, Harry Potter, and The Dark Elf Series.
Rating: Summary: The Most Beautiful Kids Book Ever! Review: My daughter Fiona (Age 9) was sent this book as a gift from friends in the States. It is absolutely captivating, with pop-ups like you've never seen before! The artistry involved in bringing this much loved story to life has impressed everyone we've shown it to.... adults included, many of whom have asked for the details to order their own copies. A word of warning - this book is SO lovely that it's not the kind of thing you'll leave the kids to play with unsupervised! Also worth noting that the text is a condensed version of the original L Frank Baum story - not the MGM movie version, and this makes it even more exciting for kids who have only seen the movie. Buy this book. Even if you don't have kids - our 3 girls just love it, and so do I!
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: I got this book for Christmas. Iwas amazed. The Emerald city is amazing, and it comes with your very own green spectacles. This the greatest pop up book ever.
