Summary: can't stand this book
Review: we are huge book readers in our family and we find this book to be painfully poorly written- the illustrations are beautiful, but, in our opinion mr.sendak should have handed over the story writing to someone else- the story is so bland and has no direction it seems- it was almost as if he drew the pictures first and then tried to make a story of them afterwards- in fact, i am certain this is what he did- there is no story really, it makes little sense-
i think he drew each picture separately and then tried to come up with a few sentences that made sense for that particular drawing and because of this, the story doesn't flow-

and he keeps repeating (quite annoyingly) that "the monsters rolled their terrrible eyes and showed their terrible teeth" because i think he couldn't think of anything else to say!- look, we love a variety of book styles and subjects but this one rarely gets picked off the shelf as our kids (and we) are not at all interested in it- it's one thing to have great pictures but if the story isn't there, the kids won't want to read it- this could have been a fabulous book because the illustrations are great, but unfortunately, he chose to write the story too- liken it to great actors being in a lousy movie-

Summary: All Hail Max! The King of His Monsters!
Review: This is the all time classic children's picture book. When Max is sent to his room he sails off to where the wild things are. Once there he quickly conquers all of the wild things who cross his path. When Max gets tired he sails back home. One of the great strengths of this story is Sendak's handling of Max, the child protagonist in control of his fears at all times. An empowering book for young children.

Summary: For All The Wild Ones by A Friend of Many
Review: "Were the Wild Things Are" delighted not only my own children when they were younger and most recently my nephew who is 5. His 7 year old brother reads it to him and is teaching the 5 year old how to read it for himself. I have never ceased to be delighted at the response this book brings to readers young and older alike.

Summary: My wild thing review
Review: I think the book was good. I especially liked the part when Max
tamed the wild things with a magic trick. I also liked the part when Max`s room turned into a forest. I think other kids my age will like this book.

Summary: "Where the Wild Things Are" Book Review
Review: I think that Max was a mischievous little boy. It seemed that in the begining of the story Max loved 'wild things'. He got into a lot of mischief so he was sent to bed without supper. When he sailed into a forest in his room he was not afraid of the wild things. He actually made them afraid of HIM. In the end Max started to get lonely so he left the forest of the wild things and sailed back home. He sailed into his room and his supper was waiting for him; his supper was still hot!

Summary: Where the Wild Things Are
Review: Where the Wild Things Are is about a little boy who gets in trouble and is sent to his room without any dinner. He then just sits there and a forest grows aroung him and he ges in this boat. It takes him over a year long journey to the place where the wild things live. He then becomes king there and is having a good time when he starts to feel lonely. So he decides he wants to go home. So he does, and it takes him over a year to get back to his room again. But when he gets back, his supper is waiting for him, still hot. I liked this book when I was younger because it made me feel that I always had a place to go, and that parents always forgive you, even if u yell at them.

Summary: The Most Overated Creepy Children's Book of the Century
Review: ....- suddenly, those monsters were fleshed out for me, thanks to Sendak and his scary illustrations. This book creeps me out to this day. Those ugly monsters with their pointy little fangs, claws and horns are nasty looking. I have mentioned this book to my friends and they all agreed with me: this story is not for children.

Summary: December#7
Review: I enjoyed reading this book when I was little because it showed me that if I would run away there was very scarey things out there. And that my parents would miss me no matter how many times they yelled at me or sent me to my room. They would always be there and give me supper as Max's parents do for him when he returns home after his journey. I think that it still teaches that today and I hope it does. Because kids need to know that their parents are there for them.

Summary: A wonderful Classic
Review: My little boy loves for me to read this book to him. I sound
out all growls and even give him a little tickle torture when it comes to the monters showing their nails. A perfect "boy" book!
