Rating: Summary: My favorite childhood book still in print. Review: This book is fun for kids plain and simple. The character of Max is identifible for children. The artwork is superb. Just look at the sample pages. Many children will do as I did as a kid and even pick a favorite wild thing from the tribe. Mine was the minotaur. I think alot of modern children's stories just fall short with those of my own past. One could pass it off as nostalgia, but I really don't think it is. I also find alot of modern children's books to contain alot of almost "abstract" art and it just hardly seems the place. "Wild Things" is colorful and dreamy in it's imagery. I think if you not finding a book you'd like to read your child journey back a couple of decades and try this one out.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Book Review: I remember my teacher reading this to me in class. It was a great pleasure to read it to mine and they love it.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: My first enounter with this book was actually on a VHS tape of Sendak favorites. Therein, Peter Schickele (aka. P.D.Q. Bach) was narrating (also wrote the music, BTW) this story, in addition to "In the Night Kitchen". He reads it so rhythmically and so musically that it is an absolute joy.Ever since, I always try to read it to my kids in my best Schickele imitation voice... and they love it. Surely one of the best childrens' books ever written. (PS: Although nothing can replace mom & dad reading to their kids, buy the Sendak collection video too...)
Rating: Summary: WILD THINGS Review: This book is one of my favorites! Max has such a good imagination! I have a good imagination too! The other night I had a really creative dream! Anyway, Max imagines a forest growing in his room! I wish I had a forest in my room! I LOVE trees! And this book! Max meets wild things! My brothers are wild things! I meet them all the time! This is a great book! You should buy it!
Rating: Summary: Best Bedtime Story ever!!!! Review: Max is the arche-type boy into mischief! This story will delight you as Max gets sent to bed without his supper and then nods off into a dream place where he has all the control (every 5 year-olds fantasy come true!) The ones he controls are giant terrible monsters that are painted with minute scaled detail. Of course, theya re more cutely drawn than frightening, so this one is okay for the young ones!!! In the end, we find Max back in his room having ruled and sailed away from the wild things island. When he gets home, his dinner is waiting for him. What a wonderful story! You must read it again and again to see how remarkable the illustrations and poetry is. I highly recommend this book as one of the best bedtime stories ever!

They love the story line of a little boy being sent to bed without supper ~~ and how he manages to travel to where the wild things are! It is a creative and imaginative book ~~ one that will delight children of all ages. It is a must-read and a must-have for your personal library. 7-25-03
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: I remember reading "Where the Wild Things Are" in elementary school. So, after taking a Children's Literature class at West Virginia State College with Professor Samples, I decided to take another look at one of the most memorable books of my past. I really enjoyed reading the book again but most of all I enjoyed the art work of Maurice Sendak.
Rating: Summary: Still a winner, after two generations! Review: We LOVE this one. It's one of only 4 or 5 books that my toddlers keep asking me to read. I remember it from childhood, but I forgot how fun it is! My kids are 3 1/2 and 2 years old and they love the repetitive parts, and the wild parts and the sweet homey ending to cranky boy being sent to bed.
Rating: Summary: Charming Classic Review: Children of all ages love this book and it is always the most requested by the children in the hospital. When you're not sure what to pick up, this book is a safe bet for any child who enjoys imaginative fables.
Rating: Summary: This is a Classic.. Review: Working in a Nursery school and we "reread" this book. I Loved it!! the children loved it. I recommend anyone who has a "little monster" at home. LOL
