Summary: Where the Wild Things Are is a wonderful book for everyone.
Review: Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are is a fantastic book that explores the imagination of an unruly little boy named Max. Sendak combines dark and slightly scary paintings with some of the most vivid textual imagery any children's book could offer. Where the Wild Things Are has an underlying moral that enhances the meaning of the text without over doing it. Children will get bored with a book if the moral is too overstated. Sendak combines his moral in a way that children and parents alike do not feel beat over the head with it. Without giving away any of the story, I'd just like to finish up by saying Sendak's got a knack for rythem in his writing. His words flow together to create endless beautiful and sometimes frightening images. This is definitely a book for children of all ages to enjoy!

Summary: two kid-thumbs up
Review: Few books hold my 2 and a half year old son's attention like this one. I now read the book an average of between 2-3 times a day to him (and have memorized bits of it myself!) It's a lovely, easy read- one that imaginative toddlers can participate in. What child can resist shouting out "BE STILL" as part of a magic trick?

Summary: The "wildest," most imaginative book a child could have!
Review: When I was 9, back in 1984, I bought my brother, who was 2, this little book for Christmas. He didn't seem very interested in storytime, or books, for that matter, but this one sparked his current love for reading. He made me read it to him every night, and, suprisingly enough, even I didn't become bored with it. It's an adorable book most kids can relate to, given their wild imaginations. I think my brother enjoyed knowing there was another little boy out there, just like him, that got into trouble a lot, and had a wild imagination. This will definitely not be a waste of money!

Summary: A grandmother, English teacher and book-lover reviews it.
Review: "Where the Wilds Things Are," from the cover, is a children's book you would never read to your own impressionable child. It contains scaly monsters and a "bad" little boy Max, who is sent to his room without any supper for tormenting his family and his dog. In reality, it is a fascinating tale of the monsters who inhabit Max's imagination and the clever way in which Bad Boy Max gains complete control of these ferocious monsters by joining in their mad rumpus and then sending them off to bed - HA! - without any supper. He returns completely restored to his familiar room and his supper, still warm.

Summary: A review of Where the Wild Things Are
Review: Mischievous Max gets sent to his room and has a dream in which his room becomes "the world all around." He sails his boat to where the wild things are, and becomes their king. They have adventures until Max decides to return to "where someone loved him best of all," so he returns to his room, wakes up, and finds his supper waiting for him, and it is "still hot."

Summary: THIS IS A GREAT BEDTIME STORY FOR ALL [CHILDREN AND ADULTS]
Review: I ENJOYED READING THIS BOOK TO MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER WHILE SHE WAS GROWING UP. IT WAS A MASCOT BOOK FOR OUR HS REUNION AS NAMETAGS FOR OUR 25TH REUNION IN 1988. THE SAME AS THE STORY. [WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE]. WE LOVE IT.

Summary: A timeless treasure.
Review: The illustrations in this picture book are amazing. They serve to effectively tell the story of a boy named Max, who dresses up in a wolf suit and sails off in his mind to a far off land "where the wild things are." He parties with them, swings on trees, and rides on their backs. He is the "king of all wild things," and then he sails home to his room and his nice, hot dinner. Children should enjoy this book, and not be too afraid of this imaginative land of make believe. The monsters are done in a cartoon style and have recently been employed in an advertisement aired on Massachusetts television. The book successfully portrays children's imaginative and playful spirits.

Summary: Fabulous
Review: I absolutely love this book. Maurice Sendak is not only a gifted illustrator but a gifted author. This book captures the wonderful imaginations of children with his illustrations and his exciting story. My niece and I love to read this tale. I am the narrator while she enjoys "gnashing her terrible teeth and roaring her terrible roar."

Summary: good for children, better for adults
Review: While this is typically thought of a children's book, read it for yourself. I am a writer of adult literature yet find some of the most inspiring books I have read are aimed, and it seems only read, by children and their parents. Give kids books a try, they are an inspiration to those who have forgotten much can be achieved through simplicity

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This was my all time favorite as a child.
Review: This book is a great book for children who want to explore and create using their imagination. It is a book that can easily be read over and over again. A superb book for any child.
