Rating: Summary: This book is the GREATEST for all kids and adults!!! Review: Of all the books that I read in childhood this one is the only one that I had to re-buy as an adult. I liked it more than Salinger's The Catcher in The Rye. I am a teacher now and I use this book and video in my classrooom every year to help my students grasp their imagination.
Rating: Summary: Sendak's drawings are brilliant. Review: I'm a 22 year old college student, and I still enjoy reading this book. I can recall seeing this book for the first time, and being in awe of Max and his great adventure. I recently recieved this book as a gift, and I'll be sure to pass it along to my kids.
Rating: Summary: This was a hilarious book. Review: The illustrations in this book were wonderful. It reminds all of us how scary rooms, the closet, and dark places are.
Rating: Summary: I'm 37-years-old and I still love this book... Review: I have such fond childhood memories of this book. I recently purchased it as a Christmas gift for my six-year-old nephew and I can't wait to read it to him. I read it to my 47-year-old husband at breakfast yesterday and he enjoyed it! The story and illustrations fueled my imagination as a child. I sailed with Max over the sea and in and out of days...to where the wild things are.........and I sill do......
Rating: Summary: The Quintessential Children's Book Review: This was a favorite for all three of my children (not to mention countless children I babysat before them), especially my youngest son, Max, who dressed as the King of all Wild Things his first two Halloweens. Now I frequently give it as a baby shower gift, for I truly believe no child should be without it. It can be appreciated on so many different levels. Small children learn the simple yet enchanting text by heart. My boys loved yelling "Let the wild rumpus start!" and "Be still!" Years ago, the librarian at my oldest son's school pointed out to me how the pictures grow in size as Max nears the land of the wild things, fill the pages while he is there, then diminish once again as he returns home. But the book also teaches us that monsters can be conquered, that children who misbehave can be forgiven. It is the book against which all other children's books are to be judged.
Rating: Summary: I'M 6 YEARS AND I THOUGHT THAT THIS BOOK WAS REAL FUNNY. Review: IT WAS A REAL FUN BOOK THAT I WOULD LIKE TO READ AGAIN. I LOVED MAXS' ADVENTURE AND THE PICTURES WERE REALLY CRAZY. MY FAVORITE PART WAS WHEN MAX WAS CHASING THE WILD THINGS AROUND. MY DAD USED TO READ IT TO ME BUT NOW I CAN READ IT TO HIM! ANNA
Rating: Summary: I enjoyed this book years ago! Review: I enjoyed this book years ago! I am now buying this book for my 4 year old nephew. It'a a wonderful story with vivid, bright pictures. I remember this story from when I was young and it is still one of my favorites.
Rating: Summary: A childhood classic that has been around for many years. Review: My favorite childhood book. Max has quite an imagination. I story mixed in fear of going into the unknown and curiosity that stirs us all to do so. In a time of boredom, Max is crowned king of the wild things.
Rating: Summary: From A Four Year Old: Review: I like it the best. I have that book. It's the Wild Things. The pictures are the gretaest scenes. That's all I think I want to say.
Rating: Summary: A WILD RUMPUS THAT'S AS FUN FOR YOU AS IT IS YOUR LITTLE ONE Review: I've read to all 3 of my children through the years (ages 20, 18 & 2!), and this book has been a favorite for all of them. Why? Even small children can relate to the story of Max, a busy little boy that gets sent to bed without his supper and goes on the wildest adventure to "Where the Wild Things Are!" The creatures in the story disspell the myth of all monsters being scary and how often does a small boy get to be "King of All the Wild Things?" "Where the Wild Things Are" by the super talented Maurice Sendak is must reading by everyone age one and up.
