Summary: A great book! I loved "Holes"!!!
Review: I am 17 years old and I loved the book "Holes". I have had to lend my copy to all of my friends as well. I liked that the main character (Stanley Yelnats....look at it backwards) was sent away even though he was not guilty. He learned from his experience and it made him a better person. This is the best book I've read all year (and the only one I've finished in a long time).

Summary: Good book for young readers
Review: I am a 15 year old girl, and we read Holes in my English class. I thought the book was pretty good. It really let your mind go nuts, because of how you would be reading about one person in one paragraph and then the next paragraph would be about someone else. I also feel that the leaders at camp Green Lake were to harsh on the kids by making them dig all those holes and sometimes not feeding them. It was just plain nasty. I would recommend this book to really only kids up to 6th grade.

Summary: I read the book 2 or 3 times
Review: I am a 4th grader and I read the book in 2003. It was the best book I have EVER read. My favorite characters were; Zero, and X-ray. The adventures were thrilling expecially when Stanley carried Zero up the mountain and when Stanley stole Mr. Sir's truck.
I wish there were more hole stories. "Holes II" get it written!! I can't wait.

Review: I am a 5th grade student at Waldron mercy Academy. (A.E.W.) I think Holes is a bad book because there are two stories going on at once. I did not have a problem keeping up with the 2 stories, I just think they were badly written as stories that are supposed to go together.
Summery
A kid named Stanley is sent to a crazy camp for stealing. He is liked a lot by his bunk members. When he told his new friends why he was there one of them flinched and another winced. Does another kid's crime connect to Stanley's? How will he survive?I personally think Louis Sachar could have done a better job in writing this book. I also think he was just being lazy and having fun with this book and not really writing it.

Summary: Holes by Louis Sachar
Review: I am a 5th grade teacher in the Minneapolis area and tomorrow I will begin reading aloud "Holes". I have read aloud another Louis Sachar book titled, "There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom" and my students thought it was hilarious. I read "Holes" over the summer myself and could not put the book down. I know my students will enjoy all the twists, turns, and the ironies that happen in the book. Make sure that you are paying close attention! You will not want to miss anything! I cannot wait to share this with my students tomorrow. I highly recommend this to teachers and kids alike. Summary: A must read, excellent as a read-aloud for 5th & 6th graders
Review: I am a 6th grade teacher, and read this book to my 6th grade class this year after reading it myself. The students were absolutely entralled with the book, and wanted me to read it each day. Stanley is a wonderful protagonist, and Louis Sachar keeps the reader wondering in which direction the story will take a turn. The book is an excellent tool for teaching foreshadowing and for symbolism. I highly recommend it!

Summary: A great book with action, adventure, and sympatheticness.
Review: I am a 6th grader in Phoenix, Az and I'd reccomend this book to anyone who can read. If you dug a hole once a day because you were wrongfully accused would you put up with it. Well not me. Stanley Yelnats is an overweight child with a pair of sneakers that fall from the sky. He now is acussed of theft and makes the choice to go to Camp Green Lake rather than jail. He thinks it'll be okay. When he gets there he can't find a lake anywhere. He learns that he has to dig a hole 5 feet deep and five feet wide on every side each day. His friend Zero is constantly being made fun of and finally runs away. Stanley decides to start to look for him a few days after. He steals the water truck but it breaks down and then he runs. He catches up with his friend and they eat as much as they can until there's no more food. You can find out what happens next.

Summary: Holes Deserves Every Iota of that Newberry!
Review: I am a college student, and bought this book on a whim at a book fair. It had won the Newberry Medal for the year, so I knew it had to be at least slightly entertaining. One day, as I was procrastinating (as many college students are prone to do), I picked up the book. I DID plan on doing other work that day -- the plans flew out the window. I simply could not put the book down. Sachar has the gift of writing what is supposedly a children's book with enough style and grace to hook any 'grown-up'. He intricately weaves all the subplots together until the finished work will leave you sighing with satisfaction.

Summary: One of the Best of the Best Books in the World
Review: I am a fifth grade student at Waldon Mercy Academy (G.R.).I did a book called Holes, but it's no ordanairy book. WARNING, this book is so fantastic you'll get addicted to it like chocolate. I truly recomend this book. It's about a boy named Stanly who gets framed for something he didn't do. He was accused of stealing an athlete's sneakers while walking under a freeway. Of course he didn't do it, the sneakers hit him on the head! When he was in trile, he had the choice of going to jail or Camp Green Lake, a boot camp for unsenseable children not to mention the children must dig holes exactly five feet deep and wide plus there are deadly lizards living there. He chose Camp Green Lake. He made many friends, and fortunatly for him, he lost wieght. However trajety strikes when his friend gets into a fight and runs away into the magma-hot desert. Of course Stanley runs after him and the story continues from there. Now, I won't give away the ending, but this book was a fantastic, unbelievable page-turner. This truly was an amazing book. I loved this book like I love my family.

Summary: Good classroom read aloud
Review: I am a fifth grade teacher and I recently read this book aloud to my class. We all loved it. The author keeps you guessing at what is going to happen next and he developed the characters so intermediate aged children can identify with them. I would not recommend this story for children under 10. As some of the content is for more mature children. My students loved it. Reading this book out loud will become a tradition in my classroom.
