Summary: Amazing Story
Review: I absolutely love this book. When I was doing a summer camp for 4th and 5th grade children, I incorporated a story time in which I read to them for twenty minutes. At first there were many complaints. Once we began reading "Holes", after 20 minutes, the kids would be begging me not to stop. This book was recommended to me from my University English Professor and I recommend it to every adult who enjoys reading. As a matter of fact, it is my pick for my monthly book club!

Read it, you'll love it too!

Summary: A great book!
Review: I absolutely loved this book! Stanly Yelnots is sent to a juvenile delinquent camp for a crime he didn't commit. At this camp, they have a weird punishment. All day, the campers must dig holes. That is all they do. Stanley solves the mystery of why they do dig holes all the time, and finds out much more. Combining two stories in one, many secrets are revealed, and you will find youself going, " Oh, why didn't I realize that?" a lot while you read it! Fans of Louis Sachar and surprise endings will find this book terrific.

Summary: Lots of irony, and that's the great part!
Review: I absolutely loved this book. It had lots of irony, and that was the great part. I read this in class, and the first sentence I read on the first page really got me going. It was "There's no lake at camp green lake." It caught my attention, and i knew this was going to be a good book. And others, if you're just looking for a good book to read over the summer, then read The Giver by Louis Lowrey. The ending is kinda vague, but it lets you imagine, wonder, and explain to yourself the ending.

Summary: This was almost as good as Harry Potter!
Review: i absolutely loved this book. it must have been kind of weird to have a father who is trying to find out a way to rycycle old sneakers... anyway, this book is about a boy named stanley yelnats (which is spelled the same way forward and backward). he has to go to a kids detention place because he was accused of something that he did not do. at this place he has to dig a 5 foot hole everyday, starting at 430 in the morning. a lot later in the book they find out that he was fausley accused... in one part of the book he gets poisened by the wardens rattle snake nail polish, and in another part of the book he gets bitten by a whole bunch of deathly poisonis red-eyed-lizards. This book is great for all ages, and i hope that whoever reads this review that has not read this book yet will be convinced to read it... you can find it at your poblic library or bookstore.

Summary: Review from a fifth grade teacher
Review: I absolutely loved this strange story of Stanley's. I have a reader's workshop in my classroom and every student who has read it also comments that they love the book, and it is the best book they have ever read. I thought the book to be funny and a very creative story. Those who choose not to read the book are missing out.

Summary: Sachar's Masterwork
Review: I am 15 and can read at a 12th grade level and to tell you the truth this book is one of the best I have ever read. It is supposed to be a childrens book and no doubt it was written that way but it was shocking and intriguing how serious it was at times. I am hear to slam some negative reviews first of all the switching back and forth between stories was genius it gave us insight on Stanley's family's past as well as the past of Green Lake. Also I noticed that most of you out there missed Zero's relationship to Madam Zeroni (hint: his last name is Zeroni) This is a book that adults and children alike willn enjoy. Oh yeah and it's Hector NOT Harold!
