Rating: Summary: 5 holes Review: ..."My no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather." That's who Stanley blames whenever things go wrong in his life, like being accused of a crime he didn't commit and having to go to Camp Green Lake as a punishment. At Camp Green Lake you have to dig holes that are five feet deep and five feet wide in any direction. He thinks it is to build character, but later he finds out otherwise. The book has flashbacks to about one hundred years before Stanley's story takes place. Those flashbacks tell the reader why they are digging for treasure. In the book, one of his friends, Zero, runs away into the desert without much water. Stanley runs away about four days later to find him. They don't know if they will survive because they have run out of water. They start to climb a mountain. They call the mountain "big thumb" because the top looks like a giant thumb. When they get to about the halfway point, Zero starts throwing up. Stanley has to carry Zero the rest of the way up the mountain. When he get to the top, he digs a bit with his hands, because he thinks that there might be a small stream a little bit down. He finds one. The next day he digs a little with his shovel, and it gets bigger. They live on that water and onions for a week. Holes is a good fiction book for people who like books that have a lot of problems, books that go back and forth between the past and the present, and adventure stories I thought that it was a very interesting book and I didn't want to put it down until I finished it.
Rating: Summary: Holes by Louis Sachar Review: ...We really enjoyed this book. It is the story of a young boy, Stanley Yelnats. Stanley is Camp Green Lake for allegedly stealing a pair of shoes from a homeless shelter. The camp is a reform camp for boys who have run into trouble with the law. Here, Stanley learns a lot about himself and the importance of friendships. He also learns the importance of integrity and honesty. This book would a great resource to use in a classroom or even at home with your own children. Stanley is a normal kid who makes the most of his unfortunate situation. Holes is a great way to teach these lessons to your own children and students in your classroom.
Rating: Summary: WATCH OUT! 4 the hole Review: ...Holes is an outstanding book.Normaly I look at a book and say"Another dumb book!" "Do I have to read it?" Now when I saw that in my reading class we were reading the book Holes I was so mad.But when I started reading it I thought it was pretty good. But as it got more detailed it was very interesting. When you read this book you will see that it is a small world.WATCH OUT for the yellow spotted lizards as you make your way through the hot, humit desert.

It was a fun and interseting to read. there were a lot of different characters The book has a lot surpises that affect the characters. Stanley, the main character, went through a lot of different changes as he was in a certain kind of camp! Luis Sachar must have been up every night, all night thinking of these great scrits! Zero, one of the boys in the story was my favorite character. He wasn't afraid to try somethiing new. He had lots of courage. I suggest this book for any age. For people who like adventures. I rate this book 5 stars! Even if you don't like to read you should try it out. You'll love it!

Rating: Summary: Holes-amazingly good Review: ...Louis Sachar Life for Stanley Yelnats is not easy. He was walking along one day when all of a sudden, a pair of shoes fell from the sky. Stanley had to go to court because someone found him with the shoes. Even though Stanley told them the truth about the shoes, no one believed him. The shoes belonged to some famous person. Stanley didn't know this and he was found guilty. For his punishment, the judge told him that he would have to go to Camp Green Lake. Camp Green Lake is a place where children go if they have done something bad. When Stanley got to the camp, he asked, "Where's the lake?" Everyone laughed. There was no lake at Camp Green Lake. Was there one before? Everyday the kids have to dig a hole that is exactly five feet wide and five feet deep. Why? Is the warden looking for something? Will Stanley ever get out of Camp Green Lake? Why is there no lake? You'll have to read the book to find out. I recommend Holes to any one that likes a darkly humorous book of crime. There are some funny parts in the book, and it has many different kinds of characters. I loved this book. Even though it's fiction, I think that it teaches to keep on trying. I think this book teaches you that lesson because Stanley kept on trying to figure out what was going on and he kept on trying to escape. I also think this book tells you to stand up for yourself. I think this because Stanley told the truth and even though he had to go to Camp Green Lake he still kept on saying that he was innocent. Why? I think that he did this because he was brave. He was brave because he wasn't scared of being punished even more when they didn't believe him. This is my favorite book and I hope it will be yours too.
