Rating: Summary: Holes, One of the best books ever! Review: Holes is an inspirational book! It is full of adventure. If you like adventure stories and survival stories, this is the book for you. The main character is Stanley Yelnats. The book takes place at Camp Green Lake. At Camp Green Lake you have to dig one hole everyday, exactaly five feet deep and five feet wide, the shovel is your measuring stick. You might get bit by a rattlesnake or stung by a scorpion. But if you get bit by a yellow spotted lizard . . . you are dead. So dig into Holes by Louis Sachar!

Rating: Summary: Holes Review: Holes is an unusual and humorous book written by Louis Sachar. Stanley Yelnats has been sent to Camp Green Lake a boys' detention center, because of hi no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather. When Satnley gets to Camp Green Lake he finds out that there is no lake just a lot of holes. The boys are supposed to be digging holes five foot wide and five feet deep to help them build character. Soon Stanley realizes thet the boys are not just digging holes to build character. The boys are digging to find something that the warden is looking for. As Stanley and his friend Zero are in the woods they find what the warden is looking for. Stanley tries to find some truth in this bizarre and humorous story of crime, punishment and redemption. If you like fictional stories with a strange twist, humor and some supense then Holes is the perfect book for you.
Rating: Summary: other books are dirt compared to Holes Review: Holes is another great book by Louis Sachar. The story is about an unlucky kid named Stanley Yelnats and his adventures at juvenile delinquent camp named Camp Green Lake. The reason why Stanley and his family are so unlucky are because of his "no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather." Along the way Stanley meets new friends with crazy nicknames and soon gets one of his own, Hector Zeroni otherwise known as Zero becomes one of Stanley's best friends. This is a great book, and I believe everyone could learn a lesson or two from Stanley
Rating: Summary: Dry Lake Review: Holes is athe best book I ever read. Definitley dont judge the book by its cover or name. In the beginning of the book its boaring but don't stop there it gets much better. Its more suspensful & mysterious Luis Sachar at first has lots of little story's but then brings them all together he also uses the flash back technique to bring them together. I would extremly recomend this book to all ages.
Rating: Summary: Not as good or as bad as people say Review: Holes is basically a modern day fairy tale. The story consists of two parts. One is basically the fairly realistic story of a boy confined to a correctional facility. The other is a seeming folktale from the ages. Sachar must be given his due for cleverly interweaving the two and bringing even the littlest story details full circle. The book is easy to read and the plot should appeal to younger adolescent readers. On the other hand, there was no great epiphany during reading. Given the situation of the protagonist, I expected a lot more introspection and learning to take place. I am somewhat biased in that I just finished reading Chris Crutcher's "Ironman" which is a powerful and significant work for male teens. Perhaps the comparison is unfair. I just think this book should have been more weighty to receive all the acclaim it has enjoyed.
Rating: Summary: Holes was great! Review: Holes is book by Louis Sachar. It is a mix between realistic fiction and adventure fiction. It had adventure from start to finish. This book is about a young boy named Stanley Yelnats who is accused of stealing "Sweet Feet's" famous shoes. Stanely's punishment is going to a correctional facilaty called Camp Green Lake where he has to go into a dried up lake where he has to dig up holes. During his time at camp he goes through crazy adventures and meets some new and interesting people. I would definetely recommend it to anyone looking for a great book to sit and read with. I really enjoyed reading this book and I'm looking forward to reading many other books by Louis Sachar.
Rating: Summary: Holes Review Review: Holes is definately one of the best booksin the world. You don't ever find books that have to with one subject that are hard to put down. It is also hard to find a book that is very funny and has a very serious part. This book has a prequel that is in the book. Read this book!
